I just submitted my app 10 days ago and been tracking the timelines thread since the start of June.

It seems like more and more people are not getting an approval letter and get a ceremony invitation with longer average waits.

Just a theory for now as there's no way to know if they've changed the process unless they confirm it but let's keep an eye on how many people get approval and ceremony separate.
That’s quite true, I’ve seen the same thing and I realised after you mentioned. No approval email or letter, just ceremony invitation letter almost end of 6 month processing time. My partner had the same situation. He got invitation letter just a week before reached 6 month deadline.

Hi all,

Any members received outcome from February 2021? HO looks like quite slow nowadays. It’s been 5 months and I still didn’t hear anything. And waiting is a nightmare.

That’s weird. We’ve seen people in March and April started to get a reply but we are still waiting and the problem here we do not have any idea what is happening on HO side and it’s really frustrating. Have you ever ask for an update on HO side?

I am with everyone in February! ! ! I clearly received a reply from my lawyer the other day. He said that he contacted HOME and said (my biometric date is 04/03/21 and the date of submitting the application is 07/02/21) and then I get a reply saying that my waiting time is less than 6 months, if I need to ask HOME It should be after 04/09/21. I am completely confused now and do not know how to calculate these 6 months.

I did ask a couple of weeks back when it just hit the 5-month mark, standard reply about taking 6 months usually or more due to coronavirus, and will inform of the outcome or if they need more information as soon as ready. Tbh there is really nothing much we can do other than waiting although I know the wait is a nightmare when you start seeing responses to later applications… fingers crossed

Iceman so your lawyer has your outcome? And yeah waiting is the only option but I think we must also do some pushes to HO.

We all have to keep waiting. I made a request for update in May and got this typical response "Your application is currently progressing through the system as normal".

Hopefully soon, they will remember it's a paid application and not free application. While not forgetting that their lame covid-19 excuse as reasons for delays doesn't hold water anymore.

Wembley was oversaturated for football match. Yet working in the office to process paid applications is too much a task.

A Case of Inefficiency or not fit for purpose?

Hi all,

GF submitted her naturalisation application in Dec 2020
Bio enrolled in Feb 2021
Got two short emails at the time, both exactly same saying application being processed, nothing else.

Nothing to date.

Is this expectable?
Is there a way to find out if it's being processed, status, etc?

Thank you

It is normal in many cases.... You may wish to chase though this email: NationalitySupportTeamFMT@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk
Genrally you don't get any specific updates, it's normally just the decision letter.

Hi All,

My mum has just been to her appointment to give fingerprints and signature. She was forced to sign a document stating that she did not submit all required documents because she hasn't uploaded proof of comprehensive sickness insurance.

The checklist says: "If you spent some of that time in the UK as a student or as a self-sufficient person, and had comprehensive sickness insurance (CSI), a copy of your sickness insurance policy"

As my mum has been continuously working full time over the past 5-6 years, she does not require insurance yet they didn't seem to understand it. She submitted 5 year employment history letter from HMRC as well as each job's contract from over past 5 years.

Any thoughts? I applied last year, and my friend few months ago and none of us had CSI or been forced to sign that declaration.

It's relatively new (guidance dating back to May 2020) - there's nothing to worry about - your mum, exercising treaty rights as a worker didn't need CSI - CSI was only required for persons exercising treaty rights as students or self-sufficient persons. It is disappointing that UKVCAS require everyone to sign this. They should at least establish whether the applicant was a student or self-sufficient.

Thanks, yes it's weird. My friend applied 2 months ago and was approved last week or so and he never had to sign this, nor provide CSI proof.

Thanks Echinol I think that HOME uses RoyalMail to mail your approval letter or invitation letter. If you have registered for RoyalMail's account and SMS notification service, you will receive a text the day before.

@Echinol I saw one member saying they recieved the approval letter but not the invitation. Link below

I don't know if it is different depending on council or a completely random thing. It is observed that some members get two separqte letters, or one letter. And if one letter, sometimes it is via post and sometimes via email. Does any one know?

Hi mcare I think it depends on councils (it was the only one I’ve seen) but nowadays we are seeing people only receiving one invitation letter via post. (Not approval) thanks.

Hey fellow February 2021 applicants -- hang in there. I was just about to start panicking a couple of days back when I received the ceremony invitation letter. (Details of my timeline here.)

I didn't get a separate approval letter -- my ceremony invitation letter said "Your application for British citizenship has been approved."

Hello everyone,

I made naturalization application on 08.02.2021 and enrolled Biometrics on 18.02.2021. It has been 163 days and still waiting. I have started panicking now :(

I received this email on 21.07.2021.

We aim to process all applications within 6 months from the date submitted. However, in certain circumstances this target is not possible.
This is because it is taking longer than usual to process applications because of coronavirus (COVID-19). This will not affect the decision.
We expect to make a decision on your application as soon as possible, but we will write to you again if this is not going to be possible.

Yours sincerely
Managed Migration Support Team
Home Office

I'll appreciate if someone can please advise whether this email has any significance and is it something to be worried about? And has anyone else on here received similar email recently?
Thank you all.
