I didn’t receive such an email, trust it is just anoter typical example of their incosistency. Unfortunately really nothing much we can do other than just wait, 6.5 months for me now and I just sent another email to follow up…
I think we meed to see if someone has recieved an approval or ceremony invitation and never recieved that "documents sent to UKVI" email.

Has anyone been in such situation?

Ok, so I am not sure how to keep cam just now. I have emailed Further Nationality Enquiries two days ago to follow up on our applications. They said they couldn't provide information as we have applied less then 6 months ago (we applied on 4th March - which 5 months now and had biometric appointment on 31st March). I then replied back and asked when is the 6 months calculated from - is it from the online application (4th March) or the UKVCAS biometric app (31st March). I now received a response as follows:

"Dear xxxx,

Thank you for contacting the Further Nationality Enquiry email inbox.

The 6 month service standard start’s when the appliction is received by UKVI, you application’s were received on the 4th August.

Decisions on nationality applications are usually made within 6 months of submission, although some applications can take longer. You will be told if you need to provide more information to help with your application.

For further information on citizenship applications after they have been submitted, please visit:

www.gov.uk/apply-citizenship-spouse/after-youve-applied

We believe we have addressed all the points you have raised. If you have any further questions please contact us at: www.gov.uk/contact-ukvi-inside-outside-uk."

So they are saying that they only received our applications yesterday and the 6months will start from yesterday? I am soooo angry, I am literally in tears just now, this is so unfair! :(

Can someone help me out how and where I can raise a complaint? This is so unacceptable service, I knew that they were rubbish but this.... I am literally losing the plot just now... Please, help me out with suggestions. I need these things sorted because the primary school applications start from September and need our status cleared in order to get the applications sorted for my daughter. I am in total panic and really heartbroken, just cannot believe this....
In my opinion it’s a typo. My 6 months mark will be on the 25th of August (date of application was 25th of February) and I personally wouldn’t even bothered to inquire at this point as I know what the response would be like.
But if by some reason I wouldn’t hear back from them until then ,then I’ll bombard them with complaints!
But in your particular situation, I would definitely write them back to specify the date in their letter to you.
Hold tight ✊🏼.
thank you mrsdoc, your answer was really kind. I wasn't going to email them at first, but I saw in some posts that after the biometric appointment everyone gets an email from UKVCAS which confirms that their documents have been sent through to UKVI. However, I have not received that email at all. So it put me in panic mode and contacted UKVI since UKVCAS says on the website to not to contact UKVCAS after the appointment, that is why. All I wanted to find out from UKVI is that they have received everything, as I know they cant tell me anything else until the 6-month mark passed. When they replied, all they said that they cant confirm it until the 6-month mark. So I replied to UKVI and asked a simple question out of curiosity to find out when is the 6 months calculated from. That was it. So when they replied and said that they only received our documents from UKVCAS on 4th August, I first thought it was typo but the more I was re-reading I started to believe that it really is the date they got it. Which then put me in a bad state and cried etc. Sorry everyone, but 2020 and 2021 has been pretty bad so far, so this made me think that nothing works for me, my anxiety went through the roof (I am literally on therapy nowadays). So no, I am not impatient and some of the answers seem pretty rude saying I should just shut up and be happy as this is a privilege etc, especially if they do not know the full story. I really appreciate your answer and understanding.
#bekind because you do not know what others might be going through behind the scenes. We are here to help each other, and so far I had really nice experiences with the group, except some answers.

I hope you will hear back soon with a positive answer, wishing you best of luck :)
Honestly, you’re more than welcome 🙂. I can’t understand why some people here feel the need to be so insensitive with some of their responses towards each other. We are all here on this forum for one reason and this reason is “help”. I’d be reacting the same way if I were you, so I totally get it where you’re coming from.
Seeing some posts also saying people who have never received an email acknowledgment.
I was “lucky” to receive one 2 weeks after applying. Even though, I applied on the 25/02/21 and received an email with the case ID on the 1/03/21, I am treating the 25th of Feb as my countdown date.
Also,I’ve seeing here some said it’s quite a generic email and you might not get it at all, so try not to panic and go from the email you received after immediate submission of your application, which does say “ We cannot provide an invoice, but this email provides confirmation that we have received your payment and the application has been submitted.“ And I’m more than sure you have got this email!

So, let’s hope we hear from HO soon 🤞.

Can somebody please advise?

Gf applied end of December, with Biometrics submitted end of January.
She received two emails on both occasions, with different case numbers (?!).
The second email was really a forward from a rather weird @aol.com address (could it be that the Bio submission centre received the confirmation to their aol address then forwarded it to her?).

Anyway, there's nothing still, it's been over 6 months.
She sent an email yesterday to an address NationalitySupportTeamFMT@... kindly posted in this thread by alterphase58 . But got an instant generic automated 'covid is so naughty' type of a response.

Is there a way to confirm if HO got all the docs required and when to expect a response back?

Thanks

Bless you Mrsdoc. Regarding being insensitive, i don't think anyone is being rude or even thinking about it.

I think it is the venting of the frustration we all have from the crappy way the process is carried out .

Hi All

I wonder if someone might be able to tell me whether I need to submit my documents that I have uploaded onto the UKVCAS website ahead of my Core (free) appointment? I am worried I cannot add/edit the documents after submitting if I made an error.

Thanks!

They answered me fairly quickly from Further Nationalities email, like within 24 hours every time. We have three times back and forth emails with them. If it is more than 6 months of waiting and they don't get back to you, you can contact your local MP in email. I have already googled my local MP (in Thurrock) and once I hit the 6-month wait without a decision then I will contact my local MP. Good luck, hopefully your girlfriend can also get to end of this long journey soon now. :)

Re: General discussion on naturalization applications

There is such an inconsistency with the whole process. I have literally noticed the following in the Naturalisation timeline:
* some people get acknowledgement from UKVCAS after their appointment to inform that their details have been passed onto UKVI, some people don't (I didn't get one and then panicked - now I know and learned the lesson that this happens)
* some people get email confirmation that their Naturalisation is confirmed, some people get it in letter (the brown envelopes ones)
* some people don't even get neither the email, nor the letter confirmation from UKVI, they get straightaway the invitation for ceremony. (So I would recommend to check with your local registration office if they received your confirmation if you passed the 6-month wait before you contact your local MP or complain to Further Nationalities team, as it might be with the registration office. I also called my local one before contacting Further Nationalities just to be safe.

That is all so far I have noticed, I hope this helps everyone and anyone who needs a bit of guidance. It took me a lot of reading on this forum and learning from my own mistakes to figure this out haha. :)

This whole process can be confusing and so frustrating, literally nobody is prepared for this as there isn't any proper consistency with their processes. If they had this on the gov website in FAQ for Naturalisation, it would help avoid people getting frustrated and contacting them constantly...
Let's start a thread, if anyone has anything to add on this list which they noticed that could be different, please do not hesitate to put it up, it may help many people to understand this confusing process. :)

Hi there,

You need to upload all required documents in UKVCAS before your appointment OR you can book the appointment with additional fee and they can do scan and upload all documents during your appointment. After the appointment it will not be possible to change existing documents or upload more. If anything is missing UKVI will contact you in email and ask for it but please do try to make sure you have all ready and submitted so it will be less hassle and headache for you later as it may delay the process (which is already really long due to Covid). I hope this helps :)

I've applied in 3rd week of Feb 2021 and submitted biometrics in 3rd week of Mar 2021.
today morning I sent email to HO and I got auto response immediately (standard text) and mentioned they will respond in 20 working days.

I'm curious to know will HO respond with in 20 working days? . 3 weeks left to complete 6 months standard service will it be any negative impact on the application?

I would appreciate any ideas / recommendations

I applied the same day as you did 25th of Feb as well as the same date for my biometrics 25th of March. For both of us the 6 months mark is going to be 25th of August. I didn’t quite catch it, are you asking whether it’d be a negative impact for inquiring 3 weeks earlier of the 6 months mark? Why should it be any? The HO may just send a generic response and nothing else. Unless, there’s been some precedent in the past?

I also emailed my Council this morning wondering if by any chance I may be on the list already without being notified for it. I haven’t received a response yet but I think it’s worth of trying.
Anyway,I’ll be waiting on any update from your side and if I hear anything from mine I’ll let you know as well.

They are quite quick to respond. If you emailed them on FurtherNationalityEnquiries@homeoffice.gov.uk email address they aren't taking 20 days. I was in emails with them last week and they responded within 24 hours every time. My 6-month mark is on the 4th September and they said they wont let me know where my paperwork stands at as I have applied less than 6 months ago. So be prepared that they might say the same to you. If they dont get back with a decision by the end of our 6-month mark, you can email your local MP to complaint and they can push Home Office for a result.

I can't find much info about FurtherNationalityEnquiries@homeoffice.gov.uk quoted here
Confused about the term 'Further Nationality' - does it mean anything? Or is that simply 'further enquiries about nationality'?
Is it good to shoot them an email if a naturalisation application has lapsed 6 months?
Thanks

Yes, it is right, this is for further enquiries regarding your naturalisation application. If you passed the 6-month wait and email them they must reply to you and inform as to where your application stands at.

As far as I am aware each council has a registration office where they do register births, deaths, marriages etc and if you google or search on your council website there should be a dedicated phone number and/or email address to the registration office within your council available to contact. They arrange the Citizenship ceremonies and handover the proper certificate which you then use to apply for the British passport as well.

Thanks. I found the reg office of the council concerned, but they state on the website not to contact them if you haven't received an official invitation for the ceremony from them.

Yes, that is one of the things I noticed from previous forum comments that some registration offices will send you invitation and booking whereas you need to contact for booking and follows at some others. This can be confusing as there is no standard, just very inconsistent...

Hi guys,
I just want to update on the Council response regarding my inquiry of my name being on the list.
I got a response from the Registration Customer Officer (Ceremonies Team), who was quite kind to provide me with some valuable information which I’d never get from the HO.
To begin with, my name isn’t on the list as they had a new batch of paperwork at the beginning of this week and unfortunately, my name wasn’t there ☹️ but he kindly provided me with the email I can use to inquire about my application’s stage once my 6 months are up.
He also ,mentioned that depending on my Case ID number whether it’s 16 or 8 digits,my is 8 ,applicants have different ways of notifications.
Here what he said in the email:
“If your Case ID/Home Office Reference number is 16 digits this will be by email, if it is 8 digits then it will be by post (this is due to them currently changing internal systems.)”
Hope it’ll answer the question why some people get approvals through the post, the other via email.

Let’s hope my “brown envelope” won’t be long 🤞🙂

Let’s hope my “brown envelope” won’t be long 🤞🙂

Would you mind sharing the email address with us? I emailed maybe 5 different email addresses but had no response whatsoever. My problem is different, i am “on the council’s list” but never received approval or invitation. Emailing and calling like crazy, but getting nowhere..

Hi guys,
I just want to update on the Council response regarding my inquiry of my name being on the list.

Yes, I emailed this one. In meantime I finally received a reply from HO, after almost 3weeks - my case has been approved on 23/06 and invitation sent on 07/07, so it was probably lost somewhere on the way…

My apology if it created a bit of confusion. It was just the same email he gave me to inquire about the progress of the application. By “different ways of notifications” I meant receiving approvals either by post or email based on the amount of digits in your Case ID.
Hope this clarifies it ..
