I have been waiting since July 2019 and I don’t know what to do anymore. My lawyer asked for an update and they send a generic email. I’m so anxious and frustrated at the same time. :(

Hi All,
I have received a citizenship ceremony letter from Council today, however, I haven't yet received any letter from the Home Office.
Has anyone else also experienced this?

What is ct3 caseworker enquires ?
Probably it’s the caseworker dealing with your application, I got an email from ct2 on Friday 1st May requesting for more details from me, I sent the requested documents. I sent email yesterday requesting for my application update and got a response today saying that a decision has been made.

At least your application is being dealt with.
Hi,I have a similar email from CT2 casework worker asking for a proved of a document which i send same day 16/09/2021,do anyone has this before and how long does it take to get a decision please?

And do.you know what the decision was?

At what point does the UKVCAS release the appointment?

I checked at 1pm today (Sunday) and then again just now (7pm Sunday) and found that at local Enhanced service point - there is nothing available till 19th October.

Is this normal and will more appointments be released? :o

I believe if you check early morning, say between 6 and 9am, there may be new appointment slots available, including free ones. Also possibly after midnight. This is just from comments I have read here and elsewhere.

I received the following reply from UKVCAS when I asked the same question:

"We release free appointments at Core sites Monday - Friday between 10:00 and 18:59 depending on the location, and these are released at around 9am as part of a 28 day rolling calendar."

Please always check the appointments in the Core centre at 9am in the morning. But these free appointments always gone within 5 minutes. Also you can try to check the slots regularly since they might release some appointment slots when people cancel/reschedule theirs.

It's been 8+ months since the application.
Got some sort of a response now confirming that the application is with them and nothing else concrete.
The message is all about it's covid, they make enquiries with other external agencies which might delay progress etc.
So does this mean theoretically the waiting time could be indefinite?

Similar timescale and wait here, applied in January and it has been 8 months now, and with same responses when I requested an update every time. I’m so fed up already…

I just checked the timeline and found out that few people who submitted their applications in August have already got approval, however some applicants who applied in February and March are still waiting for the decision. The UKVI's case processing system seems to be very random. Some applications were sent to the decision-making team straight away but the other applications might spend more than 6 months in their processing queue. Their way to deal with cases has zero transparency and the entire thing is very frustrating.

After I receive my decision I will send an email to my MP, ask him to request information regarding the UKVI's case dealing SOP.

Just a little vent. Submitted application 03/04/2021 did biometrics 30/04/2021. 5 months 18 days now.

Painful to see people who applied three/four months after you get approvals but then again some people who applied before me still haven't received their approval.

UKVI should be able to create a simple tracking system showing what stage your application is. Something similar to parcel tracking doesn't have to be complicated. Even Royal mail offers tracking on £3 service.

Sorry to see so many people wait so long. I guess Covid is not helping either.... I actually wanted to check general timelines because I am waiting 3 month now (June 19th) but realised that we have folk here waiting much longer.
My thought always was that my application was pretty straight forward:
live in Scotland since 2004
ILR since May 2019
Language and Citizenship test passed
no convictions, nothing....
And currently holding a EU/German passport

I always thought that in theory, once you have ILR approved, the Naturalisation is straight forward... maybe it isn't....

I stay positive and would like to think that if something was wrong, they would have let me know already...?!

That is the problem; after so long you start to think maybe you missed the communication requesting more information. Was it an email that you missed? Was it a letter that was never delivered?

Good point, but the timeline provided by the gov says up too 6 months. Hence, i can't really complain yet... Its a bit of a catch22 situation, isn't it?!

It is but for the money we pay we should have the right to ask or get updates on application. This process is really not good for mental health.

True - for the money you can argue there should be a tracking process somewhere...

I am not stressing out... yet. Its 3 month since i submitted the biometrics.... If I didn't hear anything until mid October, i might try to see if I can get an update somehow.

I plan to send the application by the end of October. I am planning a trip to the US from 11th December till 16th January 2022. Do you think that I'll be able to book a biometric appointment before 11th December or should I wait to apply after I come back from the trip?

Might depend on location. My appointment was 10 days after I submitted my application online.

One of my referees lives quite far. Is it possible to show her the photo and filled out the pdf application through email, rather than sending it in the post with the referee declaration? So this way, she just could print out the declaration herself, sign it and send it to me.

Many congratulations Moa7. This means that the email received previous was authenticate
All the best
Thank you! I was thinking the same x
This gives some hope that what received about a decision made is real . I have received such an update on the 1st of may.

Let's hope it is good news for all that are waiting
Hi everyone I have a email today from a CT2 case worker....this was his exact email.I am still wondering if this a genuine email.Has anyone received there approval in this kind of email ?

I am pleased to say that the application has been successful and you will shortly receive a letter inviting you to attend a citizenship ceremony. When you attend a ceremony you will be presented with a certificate of British citizenship.

Please note, this letter is not an invitation to a ceremony. You should not contact your Local Authority until you have received your invitation. If you have not received your invitation within the next 3 weeks, you should email us at Citizenship.Support@homeoffice.gov.uk.

Yours sincerely,

I’ve written an email to my local MP regarding the application queuing system and how does the UKVI picked the lucky applicants and assigned their cases to caseworkers, in the meantime some applicants’ cases were thrown into the bin and left untouched until approaching the 6 months mark and/or MP intervene.

‘It took a long time to check the information from external agencies’ is definitely not a good excuse. I would like to advise the applicants who have been waited for more than 5 months to submit a Subject Access Request and check if the Home Office has even reviewed their cases or requested any information from any agencies. For the few cases I know, their case hasn’t been touched until MP intervention. We have to let the HO fix their failed case dealing system. It’s unfair.
