I am waiting since Feb 2014 apart from acknowledgement I didn't heard anything. Even several time I had send email to the home office but unfortunately the reply is just ongoing process about 5 time since Feb I envelved my MP but again unfortunately reply is the same the home office put your case in mandatory checks that is why untill received some sort of checks home office unable to decide my application and they said their is no time line when the check will be completed.
My status living in uk since 2006. And no absence from uk no crime no driving offence but still waiting.
Best wishes for the rest who were still waiting.
Babe khyber
The thing is what mandatory or external checks would take ten months. In my opinion ,None. Unless the case worker is waiting for a reply from the relevant body and not doing anything to sped up the process. I used to work for a big bank. There were times I needed some documents from other departments and was unable to do anything in the meantime. The case worker might be in the same situation but we need someone to kick the case workers a@@@. Can you contact parliamentary ombudsman ? Can they help?

MP can’t involve any immigration matter until its really going wrong, quote from email

“MPs are limited in what assistance they are able to give in immigration cases and are typically limited to chasing up outstanding applications”

its Coincidence your local MP find out your application already granted. He just get this credit. Thats why he email you. Its happen lots of time application granted 5/6 days back but call centre and actual HO input are not synched...
mhsadique, I believe something has terribly gone wrong for anyone who has waited for beyond the time when the HO says it deals with almost 96% of applications. Plainly, for anyone to be in the hapless minority of 4% particularly when their application fits the 'straightforward' criteria. Take a hard look at the last couple of replies above to see they're many here.

The other point makes me think you are being very pessimistic because you've just generalised on insufficient data about a specific person whose name you don't even know -- let alone having grounds to suspect him of opportunism ie my local MP. It's certainly not a coincidence, because he didn't find out anything, I emailed him to stop him from getting involved because there was nothing to be involved in. And in my experience he's been very responsive whichever way I reached him, let it be email, phone, letter or dropped by his surgery. So put that in your piper and smoke it! (joking).

But on a serious note, I think it's wrong of anyone to discourage waiting applicants here from seeking assistance from their MP on account of the futility of this. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy politicians bashing as much as the next guy. But the HO has an "MP Team" to deal with inquires made by them and they're, I'm told by mine, very efficient at giving update and generally getting back to them in writing. And I know this is true because my MP has himself forwarded me a copy of a letter from the MP headed with this team's name.

If waiting applicants' contacting their MPs was pointless, can you suggest a useful alternative? Should they perhaps a) weep b) go on a hunger strike c) shave their heads d) all of the above

So, guys, MPs are your best chance of having anything moving with the HO, especially if you have or are going to be experiencing adverse effects due to your outstanding applications.

Hang on in there guys and don't become fatalists!

Relatively Fat,
Babe khyber

Without any reason no one holding any application, its my personal opinion. but some circumstances is different. Did you notice that nearly 15 Pakistani nationality application still keep on hold....coz of national.
Mr. Relatively Fat, after hollywood Bollywood is the big film industry, they make a film. "My name is KHAN and i'm not a tourists". I give some example who are not entitled for apply British citizenship by naturalisation, but still some of, they received approval in time: :D :D.

One applicant explain in this timeline, he was 9 month (spent no more than 90 days outside the UK in the last 12 months) out side the UK. Council didn’t accept his application, then he request them to call home office, they say he can’t apply, applicant take a risk and apply. he explain with proof of orginal document why he was out side the UK. he got his approval. :o

One applicant explain in this timeline, got 3 point on his driving licence with penalty charges, not only one time. he clearly mention and reason why. he got approval in time. (yes this a offence). speed break is an offence. :o

this is an example only, you can find out hundred of reason. its depend on which country you are, time when you are apply, tax contributions, transparency, paperwork etc. :D

My view is, if you have strong point then fight with them, obviously this is your right, explain and send letter to HO and cc to your MP.

if you think anything goes wrong in your application, clear it. Some time H/O didn’t bother to call you. All the best for everyone who are still waiting. Best of luck :D :D

Hi AAH01, it seems that applications from EEA Nationals, particularly those without a Residence Card, are not being processed since March 2014 (looking at various posts within forums) but nobody seems to know why... Did you apply with a Residence card or provide the relevant documentation to prove you were exercising treaty rights in the UK?

Hi kingh hassi,I think you don't need to lose hope,I am the example in front of you.
We had the ILR since about last 10 years...applied on the 5 year of straight ILR, me and my wife, paid the separate fees 906*2=1812.My wife is a skilled worker and I am in a big company..not a big officer though...have two kids 9 and 4 by birth uk citizens....when its our turn to get the naturalizations ....they kind of hesitating....no police record any kind of, no penalty points, bank defaults etc.Rather then, we got our criminal police check done almost 3 time in last 5 year for our licence, job related etc. What Home office is trying to find is beyond my my imagination.......

My MP is waiting to complete 1 months to his letter ,then he will remind them-after 20th NOV,I have posted a special delivery letter to them, they will get that today.
What I mean to say is that......write as many letter as you can and keep your MP remind.......Home office need a big blow now.If we have done nothing wrong, then we need an efficient customer service for what we paid......
Good luck...keep updated

It would be interested to see an updated spreadsheet of approved / pending applications with nationalities indeed... to check whether some nationalities are being put at the bottom of the pile...

Sorry I don't mean to rain on your parade, but this notion that the HO treats some nationalities less favourably is pretty thin. No one can say that what in essence is discrimination based on nationality is anything but mere conjecture. The British Nationality Act 1981 doesn't operate in a vacuum, it is subject to the rule of law like any other law. Yes, a degree of discretion is exercised here (just like almost all of immigration rules & regulations, understandably because they aren't primary legislation). But to say that the HO when applying the BNA is prejudiced against a particular nationality is absurd.

If all Pakistani applicants were refused in their droves without any explanation, then I can understand. If they were told en masse to wait for more than 6 months, then I can understand. We have less than 20 waiting applicants of this nationality and that's it. This doesn't prove anything.

Have those conspiracy theorists carried out a survey of any kind on whether Pakistanis applying before and after May 2014 were singled out to wait disproportionately? What about the other non-Asian waiting applicants in the list above (I was one until 27 days ago)? Don't they make it hard to simplify what's happening here as Home Office v Paks? No? What about the other Pakistani applicants whom we don't know because they are not members in this forum? What about the other Pakistani applicants who have been approved in the earlier pages of this very thread?

In my opinion, it's futile, superstitious - and sorry to say, a bit desperate - to seek patterns when one has nothing much to go on.

I am not saying there is discrimination as such, but rather internal policies within HO which could impact some nationalities more than others...

Hi there, I am not Pakistani however I do think the h.o might be treating each nation differently and Trying to explain this based on the british nationality act 1981 will be a bit wrong . Just think some nations can come to the uk without a visa, some nations need to apply for a visa in advance some nationals even need a transit visa, some countries need a visa but they are in different groups like safe and dangareous contries. UK border agency has immigration liaison officers in some contries such as Kenya , Malaysia . Why ? Because ukba don't trust the security measurements in those countries and enforces extra security. ukba have the right to treat each nationality in the way they want. I am not saying they keep all the Pakistani applications on purpose however they might be doing extra checks on certain nations. you are right there are other non-Asian applicants and they have also been waiting since May.
