MN1 - section 3(2) - fees

Post by adinaedri » Mon Sep 21, 2015 6:43 pm

Sorry, I could not find other, relevant posts :)

I am a British citizen by descent, lived in the UK for 7 years.
Currently in Cyprus. Moving back to the UK May 2016.

Son was born outside the UK (and outside the EU) 2 years ago.

I filled in NM1 (section 3(2)) and was wondering what is the correct fee? I just can not believe that is is over £700. Very very different from the fees paid for first child (born in London.. :-(

Any ideas?

Thank you all,

Ad

Yes, I paid £649 or £749 for registering a minor a few months ago. They fees seem to increase every year.

For a minor using form MN1 its £749 now:

Thank you. (sigh)

Does that make sense? I mean, does EVERY British citizen who give birth outside the UK has to pay that? To me it feels like a penalty given to British citizens for not giving birth on British soil :x

Doesn't make sense to me, as a taxpayer it seems excessive & harsh & discriminatory.
But hey ho I also pay council tax & yet still need to pay for a perking permit to park outside the house.

No, not every British citizen. It is only those who are British by Decent, as you are, that have to pay to register children born abroad.
