Hi all!
I'm a 14 year old Dutch citizen who's lived in the UK for over a decade continuously (born in Holland, moved here in Nursery). My parents are divorced and so I live with my mother here (father is still and has always been resident in Holland). My mother got a permanent residence document over a year ago, but I have no clue if I had anything before I applied for settled status and was successful. My mother doesn't wish to apply for British Nationality because the Netherlands would revoke her citizenship in response - also meaning she would lose EU citizenship (dual nationality is usually not allowed there), but I can have both British and Dutch nationalities under their law as I'm a minor who's lived here for over 5 years - so why not apply right? I poured over home office documents like the guidance forms and it's clear I only have a shot at registering as a citizen by discretion. To be satisfied that my future lies here in the UK, guidance states that both parents need to either be naturalising or have ILR, and that having a parent abroad is grounds to challenge a notion that my future lies here. I'm honestly at a loss here, how would I prove my future lies here in the UK to a caseworker. Plus, what's the reference to referees all about? Many thanks in advance.
(P.S. how likely is it that my situation could lead to rejection?)
