Hi everyone, I applied in July 19, 11 months ago. This is the response that I have received today. It’s confusing.

Good Afternoon

Thank you for your E Mail

Your application is currently still in the queue awaiting a caseworker to consider your application and your application will be dealt with in due course. Unfortunately because of the Covid 19 situation applications are taking longer to be considered

Hi Oria
That is actually a good news. I applied on 20th of July 2019, the day after you applied. I emailed HO for an update, however I got a generic reply. Please update, if you get any good news.
Dear Jais 2015,
Thank you I remain positive not much we can do anyway. I’ll let you know when I have a new update. It’s a few of us left who are to receive a secession from the July 2019 applicants. Let’s share our updates when we have them.

Good luck to everyone

Hi Everyone

I just want to share the timeline of my naturalisation process with you, in particular with those who are refugees and did overstay prior to being granted a refugee status. I overstayed for almost 2 months, however I was purchasing anything using my UK bank account, so by submitting my bank statement for the period i overstayed I believe my case was dealt with as a genuine one. I was actually surprised that my application was successful in only 3 months. Being a member of this forum for a quite long and i remember myself checking all the posts in regards with the naturalisation process especially from those who are in a same situation like mine, refugees and have an overstay period, I really thought that if i was lucky i would get approval by the end of the year, if i was not i would get a refusal, but i was super lucky actually :), and i wish everyone will be

ligibility criteria: 5 year refugee + 1 year ILR
Language/LIUK Criteria
Method of application: online
Date of application: 05/03/2020
Date of acknowledgement: 05/03/2020
Date of debit of fees: 05/03/2020
Date Biometrics enrolled: 13/03/2020
Date on Approval (email): 06/06/2020
Date of Ceremony: tbc
Good luck everyone and wish you all the best

Hello there

Congratulations Sambackst.hapy for you
To be honest , it is not really quite clear how the Home Office functions. While my friend for instance took 2 months to get her application to be approved ( refugee route) and my daughter that was dependent on me took 4 months ., i was asvised by email and after I chased them that it was approved after 8 months of wait ( still didn't not have the approval letter ) .

Congratularion again and good luck all

Many congratulations.Of course you are very lucky.Just overstaying &not working during that period by proving it can simply trigger a discretion which happened in your case.It is exactly according to HO guidance. This can encourage many overstyers but again this is UK,s home office any weird or unusually nice thing can be expected.

I have never posted but I have been lurking around this forum for awhile. I am posting because I wanted to give people from refugee background hope and clearer picture. I was going through the timeline page and I was able to go as far as back 3 years ago and see the amount of people from refugee background. there aren't many. some received it in appropriate time and some delayed and most of them received it eventually. so for future applicants don't try to come with a conclusion based of peoples post here, there isn't enough data to derive a statement from. But the best approach is to assume it will be between 1 month to a year(I know easier said than done). But it's good to stay hopeful.

For myself, I sent my application on the 21/12/2019 and I got an email today saying my application has been successful at 07/06/2020. I did mine through solicitor, not saying it's better to do it through them but it gave me reassurance or gave me the illusion that my application won't fail if I do it through them. every application I made has been through solicitor ( except travel document.)
advice:
Through this time I mediated a lot, kept busy and generally tried to be at peace. seek things that will help you be at peace. reduce your time how much you spend online(forum). For those making application good luck. for those who got delayed stay hopeful and at peace, you guys are doing well!

Many Congratulations. I agree with with your first paragraph points as there is no logical explanation for waiting time for applicants from refugee background. I am not sure if applying through solicitor helps to get faster approval. I know a couple of friends who applied through solicitor and get their approval after 10 months even before lockdown. I applied by myself, However it will be a year next week. I got generic response when I contacted them few times. I never had any immigration issues even dont have ant motoring offence. But it is what it is. I am trying to contact my local MP.... not sure if that helps. Just waiting.

Hello just wan to tell you that one of my friends got their citizenship approval today. According to him it was an email. It took him 6 months and 2 weeks since he submitted his application online.
According to him he did not overstay or had not done any thing illegal etc.
He has to wait for Citizenship ceremony as it is closed due to virus.
I hope you will get an idea by now how much virus is effecting straight forward applications.
He never sent any emails or letters from MP to know about his outcome.
Keep calm in this situation please

Please do NOT post your duplicate questions in the other General Discussion topic. As you are a refugee ILR applicant, this topic is the correct one.

Hi
If you applied on 15 August 2019, it will be 12 months since your application next week. I am also waiting for a decision. I applied one month before you in July.

Hi
If you applied on 15 August 2019, it will be 12 months since your application next week. I am also waiting for a decision. I applied one month before you in July.
Hi Oria,

I applied end of September and did my biometric on the same day. I am still waiting 10.5 months.
My MP contacted HO twice and both times, they replied that I have to wait longer with no specific update.

Have you heard anything from HO?

Thanks

Hi Oria, Hannah and other refugees who are waiting for decisions yet. Have heard anything? Any update please. I applied on 15 July 2019. It has been 15 months. I stopped contacting HO after 11 months. In August, contacted My local MP who contacted HO on my behalf. They replied I have still to wait as they are still waiting for external agencies report. It is frustrating. tried to focus on other things but still.... I know a couple of friends who applied after me and received their approval after 11 months. Two other friends are also waiting for a year. How about you guys?? Any news?

I have an interesting update to share to be honest. We emailed them (a lot). They said:

1. ...waiting caseworker... (2 months)
2. ...assigned to caseworker waiting answer... (around 3 months)
3. ...email from HO: additional checks external agencies etc. - 6 months not possible... (after 5 months
4. ...6 months passed...
5. ...7 - 9 months: additional checks ongoing...

It seems that for refugees it is a standard practice to return to additional checks after "standard ones" are passed and it goes to caseworker. Thus, it seems extra checks are carried only after a caseworker sees the application and then sends it for them, after which are complete and the case is back to the back of the queue for caseworker assignment. If true, this procedural inefficiency would double the standard processing time (about 3 months to 6 months), plus the extra checks processing time... hence the 8-12 months many refugee background applicants are facing. I cannot prove it, but I trust from the email answers we have been getting from 2 months of the application onward (we emailed them about monthly) it seems so. If this is true, it would not only be procedural segregation, but also silly organisational performance & procedural inefficiency. Obviously, many of these emails are standardised, or semi-standard and cannot be reliable indicators of internal processes, hence treat the aforementioned as a hypothesis of the poster. If this is the case, at least HO could initiate the "additional screening" from application initiation, before waiting for an assigned caseworker to ask for it, 3 months down the line.
Hi :
Ariskar
Me too I am always getting the same standard responses from HO everytime I send them emails I get the same replies internal / external checks had not been completed so far as soon as we make a decision you will be contacted by case worker i contact HO every 3 months by emails + phone calls
3 times I asked my MP to contact HO but it seems nothing really works because I got 3 years experience in communications with HO

Application date 25-july-2017
Waiting time reached 33 months
Sometimes I am thinking to withdraw my application and then reapply for it
Hi Mrafgsharoon,

I feel so sorry for 33 months waiting.
could you help me please with any helpful advise?
My Application date July 2019
I have been waiting 15 months

Have you complained?
Have you contacted MP
