Another fellow Zimbabwean with a not so straightforward application!

It took about 5 months from biometric submission to approval, and about 5.5 months from application submission to approval. I was lucky to get a free ceremony appointment this Wednesday

It feels like a weight has truly been lifted, good luck to all the rest of you waiting, i am excited for your day to come too!

I am getting a bit concerned, as I thought we had pretty straight forward applications. I am a NHS doctor, and I fulfill all the eligibility criteria. Does having 2 applications delay the processing times more?

19/03/2024 - Received a generic email saying they are unable to process application within the 6 month timeframe

15/04/2024 - Received the approval email. It's been 6 months since I sent my application. I am just happy the ordeal is over.

Just received an email from MMST Workflow:
We aim to process all applications within 6 months from the date submitted. However, in certain circumstances this target is not possible. Following our assessment of your case, unfortunately it appears your application will not be processed within the 6-month target.

By way of background, naturalisation is not an automatic process, and we must make several enquiries before we can reach a decision on whether to grant citizenship.

The nature and extent of those enquiries, and the length of time taken to complete them, varies according to the circumstances of each application.

The progress of outstanding enquiries is regularly monitored with the agencies carrying out these enquiries on our behalf. It is only when we have the results of the enquiries that we can reach a decision on whether citizenship should be granted. We do not, ourselves, carry out these checks and we cannot, therefore, be sure how long they will take in each case.

I appreciate that Gov.uk website gives the following information in relation to waiting times for naturalisation applications:

"All applications for citizenship are subject to enquiries to ensure that the statutory requirements have been satisfied. Because of these enquires, we anticipate that applications may take up to six months to complete. Some applications may be dealt with more quickly and some may take longer, depending on the nature of the enquiries to be carried out".

As you will note, it is also made clear on the website that, in some cases, these enquiries may take longer than average to complete. You will appreciate the need to be careful and thorough in such matters.

These enquiries are still ongoing regarding your application, and we are sorry for the delay. We aim to make a decision on your application as soon as possible.

Have no idea what happening there.....

Email from Home Office Atlas 01/02/2024 asking for 5-year address history (I reviewed my applications and noticed I had made an error on the application so it looked like I had a gap in my address history)
Sent several emails to Further Nationality Enquiries and finally got a reply on 15/03/2024 saying application was approved.
Date of Official combined approval & citizenship invite email: 25/03/2024
Date of Ceremony: 04/04/2024 (Private)

I was nervous about applying because I had 3 speeding tickets (with in the 5 years), 3 Parking Fines (with in the 5 years), 3 CCJS ( with in the 5 years which were all satisfied) 1 Drink Driving Ban (2014). I have not slept properly for the past 6 months with stress and anxiety. I am glad this nightmare is finally over. Wish you all a speedy journey.
