I applied through NCS on 11 June 2013 here is reply I got from UKBA
last week

As previously advised we can no longer give you an update until your case has exceeded 6 months from the application submission date. In your case this would be the 12/12/13.

Your case is currently assigned to a caseworker and will be decided in due course.

God knows when I am gonna get it...........

zeevirgo I m in the same position as you, I have applied 17th June self and wife. Last I heard from HO 2nd Aug that my case has not yet been assigned to case worker. I ve decided to stop worrying it will come at some point.

Stop worrying and enjoy the weather while it lasts, take your wife or gf out for dinner somewhere nice, listen to some nice music and take it easy. Life is too short so enjoy!

Today after almost 5 months the HO sent me a letter that they need further information before they process my application ( asked for proof of address during which my old passport did not cover basically my passport expired 4 months before I applied BC) I will sent it tomorrow first thing in the morning. has anyone experienced the same issue? does this means I'll have to wait another 5-6 months? bcoz it seems that for the last 5 months they didn't even touched my application.

any response appreciated

My approval letter told me to contact Lewisham to book the ceremony, I called the council this past Monday and booked for the next available one (this Thursday).

The council official told me that I will receive a separate invitation letter from council but it may not arrive before the ceremony, I shouldn't worry about it and just bring the HO approval letter with me.

The invitation did arrive eventually, it's a hand written invitation letter from the council for the ceremony that I booked and refers to our booking over the phone.

Is passport not another application process with interview? they can't just send passport to you after attending ceremony.

congratulations on receiving it so soon. I think this is the quickest I have seen in this forum. Could you confirm your nationality?

Passport application process is completely separate. Once you have received your citizenship certificate, you will have to apply for the passport, pay yet another fee and probably have to go through an interview and then a passport is issued.

I submitted my application at NCS Sutton yesterday and will update on progress as things happen.

I was lucky to get an appointment at Sutton after calling numerous NCS centers in Surrey and Berkshire areas with most telling me that they did not have appointments until second or last week of October, especially because of the changes to requirements of knowledge of English on 28th Oct.

I called them on 13th and immediately got a date for 17th!

Thx wkd-nav, I think ur right, recently someone else told me the same thing as yours, that HO make a decision straight away after reviewing the required docs plus its over 5 months now and I guess they prefer to give a decision before 6 months completes and me call them everyday to give me a reason for delay. hope to hear something by the end of sep. and good luck with your application if you haven't received yet :)

Finally got invitation letter monday and been to private ceremony today. Its all done now. Next step is passport. They made me wait long enough since approved letter to invitation letter. And council said public ceremony will be in November so I paid 119 for private ceremony and took my oath. Thanks everyone.

Congrats skyiswide. Ya its very psychological, that we have spent so much, and just another £119 to get it over.

Thank you
Yes thats true. Its a lot of money 874+119 but if we say them anything then they will argue and reasons they will provide....no one asked you to pay 119. It was your choice that you paid for private ceremony. But true is every council should provide better service and at least 3 public ceremony a month. And not giving date after 2 months of invitation letter. Some council is very good and some council do lot less ceremony in a year so they can made huge amount at the end of year and spend these money on other works in council. I reckon if 33 people take ceremony in a month then council earn 33x whatever private ceremony cost x 12 . Just an average. Anyways I am happy atleast they gave me private ceremony date within 48 hours. And 119 pounds saved me 60 or more days as they said no public ceremony before November. As oct one was fully booked. I wish all you get your approval soon. It is amazing feelings that I am British citizen now and I still have full love and respect to my existing citizenship and its culture. But I also have full respect and love to my new country Great Britain
