I asked for my docs return as i had to travel through online form.I had a very bad experience of getting the documents back.
>1st request sent 08/09/2015--didn't receive docs back within 10 working days.
>2nd request sent 23/09/2015--again nothing received.

finally got my MP involved on 25/09/2015...My Mp contacted them and after their efforts i finally got my passport back on 02/10/2015.

Thank you...goodness me, I didnt think one would need to involve their MP to get their original documents back...did yuou also get a letter advising on the status of your application, and have you got your approval yet?

Asking for your documents does not affect your naturalisation application.
but if they have checked your documents they will return your documents and it will not affect your app but if they need to check your docs they will send your documents back but they will let you that once you are done with the documents we need them back.

Hi everyone! I have been a silent member of this group which has helped me tremendously. I finally got my approval letter and original documents on Friday. Just to say to all those constantly tracking their self-addressed special delivery, hoping to get anything other than "please come back later"....it will happen eventually. So this is my timeline, took exactly 6months!

Eligibility criteria: 10yrs + 1yr ILR
Nationality: Nigerian
Method of application: Postal
Date of receipt by UKBA: 16/04/2015
Acknowledgement letter dated: 09/05/2015
Date of debit of fees: 11/05/2015
Date of receipt of acknowledgement: 12/05/2015
Biometric enrolled: 16/05/2015
Date of receipt of approval: 16/10/2015
Date of Ceremony: to be booked

Also to add I did a change of address in June and sent a letter with a new self-addressed special delivery envelope with my new address just to avoid mix up but I also kept tracking the other special delivery with my previous address just incase. My documents and approval letter were actually sent in the initial envelope i provided but they changed the address on the envelope to my new address. So advice is even if you change your address and send a new envelope, keep tracking both. Goodluck to everyone still waiting!

I have been a silent observer of this forum for some time; at first when I applied for naturalisation in 2013 and now for my wife's application. Reading this forum and experiencing the naturalisation process twice, I am 100% convinced that the process is run by completely incompetent chimpanzees. Here's my wife's timeline and experience:

Eligibility criteria: 4 years ILR including 2 years BC spouse
Language criteria met: UK Masters degree + Life in the UK test
Nationality: Indian
Method of application: NCS York
Date of application: 23/07/2015
Payment method: Credit card
Date of receipt by UKBA: 24/07/2015 (assumed as NCS York doesn't provide tracking number)
Date of acknowledgement: 07/08/2015 (letter dated 31/07/2015)
Date money gone from account: 31/07/2015
Date of letter requesting biometrics: 07/08/2015 (letter dated 04/08/2015)
Biometrics done: 08/08/2015
Date of approval: 20/10/2015 (letter dated 10/10/2015) Royal Mail 2nd class after paying £1005 in fees is simply extortion
Date of ceremony: Complex*

*Our joy of getting the approval letter soon turned to stress as we noticed that they had named the wrong council to contact. We've always lived in York, yet the letter asks us to contact Westminster Council. For clarity, we never asked for the ceremony to be in any other location other than where we live i.e question 1.21 of form AN was left blank.

I called Westminster council to ask if her certificate was sent there. They said the relevant people's phone is always busy so they can only send them and email with a message to call us back. I called the home office on 0300 123 2253 (number thanks to this forum!) They immediately suggested that she must have requested Westminster instead of York in h application! When we explained that this wasn't the case and it was a mistake on their part they asked us to send an email to Citizenship.support@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk to request them to transfer it to York. We sent the email immediately which I'm sure is just sitting in the big black hole called the Home Office!!

York holds its ceremonies on the first Thursday of every month. Knowing the HOs lack of competence I doubt they will settle this by the first Thursday of November so we're probably looking at December!

Anyone experienced a similar problem before? Any tips or feedback to share?

Cheers

Can someone advise where can I check the progress of my application? I applied one week ago for my family (2adults and 2 children). The money are still in my account. How long does it takes until they get the money?
Thanks

My friend, remember you are dealing with an extremely inefficient institution hell bent on overcharging us for their incompetence! There is no way of checking your progress until 6 months have passes. One week is nothing. It can take a few weeks for your money to go out. Mine took 2 weeks. Some others took 4 weeks. Just look at other people's timelines.

So just sit back, relax and enjoy the show! Pour yourself a drink, settle down to a warm stew, watch the trees change colour, enjoy the rugby world cup... And don't forget to change your clocks this weekend!!

My best wishes to you for all your 4 applications!!

Hi Georgeousmafia

Thanks for your answer. Have you requested them back or this is the "normal" time to get them back? If you requested them back did you completed a form or how exactly did you do it? Has been 7 days since I've send them and I haven't got them back yet.

Thanks again
