Re: Application timeline

After a relatively long wait, I can now post my details:

Eligibility criteria: 10 years Long residency + 1 year on ILR
Method of application: NCS (Eastbourne)
Date of application: 23 Oct 2012
Received by UKBA: 25 Oct 2012
Date of debit of fees: 29 Oct 2012
Date of receipt of acknowledgement: 05 Nov 2012 (dated 29 Oct 2012)
Date of receipt of approval: 31 Jan 2012 (dated 21 Jan 2013)
Date of Ceremony : Yet to be fixed

Don't know any reason why the application was delayed, very simple, straight forward application with good reference. So those who are still waiting since Aug/Oct, guys its not your application rather its how HO operates, wishing you all the best...

from my side, relieved and happy to find that piece of paper after 11 and half years (Alhamdulillah), catch you up at passport application processing timeline forum.

Don't know to be honest. One of them was my friend and while talking to him yesterday, he didn't mention anything like that, so I guess no

congratulations fajr.

I am one of those October applicants still waiting. Spoke to someone from NCS at my council and there's no invitation letter for me, so I am not expecting from UKBA for a while. The NCS person was also saying that however straightforward your application might be, it also depends on the backlogs with your caseworker.

I will be leaving the country soon and looks like I will be doing so without citizenship in hand :(

bigfatcat,
Nothing to worry. Banks don't decline for no reason. Ensure you have sufficient balance and inform the bank that a particular transaction will be hitting your account from Nationality Services and ask them to process it without any delay. They will make note and oblige. That's what I did.

the only caveat is that you need to contact local authority for arranging the ceremony within 21 days of issuing the approval letter

lol.. a cheque can be declined just like a debit card payment. Just use a debit card and make sure you have the funds. Simples. :D

Hi...

Cheque payment never declines,,,, If correct signature have been used as was on your account and you have the necessary fund

I paid via cheque and it was cleared....I think it is the safe option.

Rehan - I think you'd agree since the person asked how to even write out a cheque that the safer option would definitely be not to use one, and to go with a debit card payment. ;)

I am in the same boat as emmigrator123, same application 10 year + 1 Year ILR. Though I applied through solicitor on 10 Dec 2012, passport returned on 20 Dec 2012. I too will be leaving the country at the end of the month for my new job :) but :( sadness as I would need to pay for a ticket to come back for a day to just take the oath. Ah I hope I hear something soon so I can arrange a urgent private ceremony. Fajr Thanks for the info of 21 days I did not know about that and congrats (mubarak) on your approval.

Hi ujan1, not that I wish someone to be in my boat ;) but good to know someone under same situation. Once you take oath, would you be travelling on your current passport, given that you are officially British Citizen. Also, what are your plans about passport application? Would you be travelling to the UK again to attend the passport interview. I posted http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=125230 to seek advice regarding this.

Which country you are moving to, if you don't mind me asking. I really hope our approval comes through before we leave the country.
