BigSam, I presume Leeds has my certificate. I will have to confirm this just to be sure. I really hope to become a British Citizen before I leave and find out whether I could apply for the passport from Amsterdam.

Sweet, please let me know when you find out if your certificate is at Leeds because I am in a similar situation to you. I might as well try calling the Barnet council tomorrow if you find your certificate at Leeds.

Although I am not sure, but I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to apply for your British passport from Amsterdam. When you are British, you are British, the passport is a mare travel document which you should be able to get from any British embassy worldwide
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it...

What is the date of your approval please?
My approval letter date is 5th Feb. It says to contact the Leeds Register Office. I applied through the Leeds council as my local council, York, didn't have the requested appointment dates. I didn't choose Leeds in my application and the person at NCS Leeds also mentioned that my ceremony will be at York. Expecting my citizenship certificate to be sent to York, I have been ringing the York council every week. At least this UKBA cockup is not as bad as sending some one's birth certificate to the wrong address http://immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=125734
Same for me - I requested Southampton as the ceremony venue and they sent my certificate to Winchester :D

I forgot to include my licence's counterpart, is that a problem? I have no point on my licence anyway.

At Alish60, No need to submit Licence unless you have got some point on License. I was asked for address proof by NCS and I provided copy of License but only as address proof so Relax.

Also License is to be provided if it was used as an ID proof at the time of LIUK test, but no need to provide counterpart still.

You can Apply after or on 17th Feb,
Im also applying fro my wife ILR and then i will apply naturalization. i cross checked with my Solicitor also.

I will explain my Case , It may be useful to other people.
My self and my 2 kids applied naturalization (my wife and 2 kids are in ILR dependent because my wife is in India when i got my ILR, she is pregnant at that time) in Jan 2013 but they rejected my both kids because one of the main care taker is not holding PR or ILR .

so my solicitor done mistake he have to advice me to apply my wife ILR and then apply all naturalization. he told me that sorry i missed the new rule. So i'm now applying ILR to my wife only and then i will apply all 3 naturalization.
Waste of money and time hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

So all please don't do the mistake what i done.

So your case is straight forward All the best.

The director should be OK for your 2nd referee, but you will probably need someone with standing in a professional organisation for the other one. Don't see how a sub post master would qualify for that.

Application Timeline
Eligibility criteria: Married to BC, 2yrs DLR + few months ILR
Method of application: Postal
Date of application: 26th December 2012
Date of receipt by UKBA: 2nd January 2013
Date of debit of fees: 10th January 2013
Date of receipt of acknowledgement: 12th January 2013
Date of receipt of approval: 11th February 2013
Date of Ceremony: TBC

This is the timeline for my husband's application. His was a unique case in that he had been granted ILR after 14 yr residence, and the first time he applied he was refused ILR and granted DLR as he didn't have docs to prove residence for 14 yrs. Got ILR in Sep 2012, has had DLR since Jan 2011 and was an overstayer prior to that, we've been married since March 2010. We did explain on the application form that his parents hadn't actually renewed any of his docs and so he was classed as an overstayer.
I'm not sure if i'm meant to be posting the extra info in this section but I did want to give abit of background information because he didn't have legal residence for the 3 yrs prior to his naturalisation application and was approved.

A director is a person of professional standing. The sub-post master could be the 2nd referee if British citizen and >25 years of age.

Application Timeline
Eligibility criteria: Married to BC, 2 yrs marriage visa, just received ILR at Solihull PEO
Method of application: NCS Newbury
Date of application: 05 Feb 2013
Date of receipt by UKBA: 08 Feb 2013
Date of debit of fees: 11 Feb 2013
Date of receipt of acknowledgement: 13 Feb 2013
Date of receipt of approval: 04 March 2013 (dated 22 Feb)
Date of Ceremony: 18 April 2013

This is my wife's application (I'm a BC from birth). She has been here since 2005 on HSMP and then student visas (for PhD), on marriage visa since 25th Jan 2011, and got ILR on 29th Jan 2013. We went to Solihull PEO for both the marriage visa and ILR, and used the checking service in Newbury for naturalisation. All very smooth so I'd recommend going to those offices if you can.

From what I can see, once you go past the 4 months mark, it means you application has been "forgotten/lost" :(

Most applications appear to be processed in few weeks. Let's see what happens by end of this month!!

Although this thread is not right for discussing this, but I thought I would throw this into the mix.

A director is not a person of professional standing. Any Tom, Dick and Harry can be a director by registering with Companies House and paying thirty odd quid.

That said, UKBA accepts directors of VAT registered limited companies
