Payment by Debit card declined

Post by Alus28 » Fri Jul 02, 2021 4:42 pm

Hi !
I wonder if anyone can help me.
My wife applied for her naturalisation along with my son to register him as british citizenship.
I applied by post and got the acknowledgement for my wife's on her registered email.
The mode of payment was debit card.
Now here comes the problem
Home office tried to take the payment by card and it got declined so they send me another payment slip and also acknowledge the receipt of documents.
This time I am paying by cheque £ 2380.40.
My question is.
1) Is paying by cheque ok. And how long will HO debit the money from my account or how long it takes for HO to process cheque.
2) Has somebody been through this situation before
3)My wife received acknowledgement with case ID no.not my son. So is it the same. Please explain.
Thanking you in anticipation

2) Has somebody been through this situation before People had problems with cards not being accepted in the past, but now with online applications the system will normally authorise (or decline) the payment immediately. Not an issue that is reported regularly for naturalisation applications.
3)My wife received acknowledgement with case ID no.not my son. So is it the same. Please explain. You should get a separate acknowledgment as case reference for son, also separate approvals. All applications are assessed individually, there are no family application.
Thanking you in anticipation

Hi !
Just to inform you I sent a cheque of £2380.40 on the 30/06/21 and HO received it on 01/07/21.
I can see that still no money has been debited from my account.
I don't know how long it takes for HO to bank the cheque and process.
Also still I haven't got the acknowledgement with case ID for my son .
Need your help.
Thanks
