Once you withdraw you'll have to join the back of the queue again. The Home Office won't refund you either so you'll lose you money and have to pay again!

I think this may have been changed recently
https://www.gov.uk/visa-documents-returned

You might have to cancel your application - you’ll be told if you have to do this when you ask for your documents back.

For Nationality application (ROA) it seems there is option to recall without withdrawing. I have also called them to confirm . But not sure if it will delay the application and we will probably have to resend the documents back. For other visa types (Tier, ILR) there is no option to recall without withdrawing.

But then there is still the issue of baby travelling without COE

LittleMissSunshine, Is the COE is for yourself or your baby ? Did you have problem travelling or returning to the UK without the COE-ROA ?

Sorry for late reply! I haven't been checking this. Btw have you recieved your passport back yet ? I'm still waiting and getting fed up now , I'm guessing they'll make us wait for the whole 6 months! The ROA is for myself. Both my children have British passports ( thorough my husband). I had no problems getting beck into the country . In fact the immigration officer queried why I didn't get my passports tied. I'm sure he was misinformed as quite sure you can't tie them anymore. you could in the past ( I was allowed to do this with my passport in the early 90s)

I applied for my Son's RoA on 1st June, acknowledgement email received on 7th June but no sign of RoA.

Requested the documents back on 8th August but again no luck. It should come in 10 working days but today was 10th working day so have sent another enquiry today confirming that I haven't received docs within 10 days.

Called them last week. Lady on the phone said there are huge number of applications so don't expect the docs back in 10 days - she was right.

hoping for the best now. £321 gone down the drain but worst case is document not returned yet.

All,

Good news.. I finally got back my son's Passport with ROA approval yesterday. After a 4 month long wait I feel relaxed now, proabably for another 5 years or so. :).

Applied: 1st week of April 17
Passport received: 22/08/17

Thanks everyone for responding to my earlier messages and hope those who are waiting will get their approvals soon.

Thanks.

It is the same with me
Letter of Ack - Letter on ROA = 4 months
So the processing time seems to be about 4 month lately for COE ROA

Has anyone ever received a call from the HO telling them their appln. had been approved and their passport would be sent out in the next few days?

A very polite young man called to say he was calling from the HO, and having seen the section on fraudulent calls I was instantly on alert! However, he just said my appln. was approved, and he would be returning the passport shortly. He also pointed out that since my passport expires July 2018 I would have to reapply then when I got the new passport. He added that I had the option of applying for citizenship through naturalisation on Oct. 26th of this year when I would have my 3 year residency, which I already knew.

He asked for no information at all.

I was just curious if this happened to anyone else. I've never seen any posts saying HO had nicely called to say their appln. was approved.

If he is legit, I rec'd an acknowledgement email July 7, so that would make processing time 10 weeks.

Is anyone renewing a ROA visa as opposed to a first application? My NZ passport expired, so I have have had to reapply for the visa. I got an email confirmation of received docs and payment taken 1st Dec 2017, but still waiting for further updates. I can see from other replies I could be in for quite a wait :/

Is anyone aware of any benefits or assistance that I can pursue?

Cheers

David

Hi, I requested that my documents be returned on 2 February and it took five days. Not sure if my application will be delayed because of this.

David from NZ, I am pretty sure the system does not differentiate between a renewal and a first application for the Right of Abode. They treat renewals as first applications. Check the government website. There is another website called entitled to where you can check to see if you are eligible to receive assistance.

Would be very interested to hear how long current waiting times are for the processing of Right of Abode applications. I received my acknowledgement on the 7th February. Any nformation would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Helen

Hi , I too am interested to know anyone’s recent experience with processing times for ROA. I have applied for my son - he is 7 - he has a previous ROA but passport expired so applying again. I sent in everything on 13/2/18 and got acknowledge meant letter on 15/2/18 and fee has been taken.
Does anyone know if they send back the supporting documents with the new ROA or if it is sent separately?
Also - for Helen - please can you tell me if you requested your supporting documents back only but not your actual passport?

Hi
I requested that all my documents be returned, which they did. They said they may recall them later if needed. They also said the application may be delayed because the documents had been returned.

Hope this helps.

Helen - thank you for your reply. I just have a question - how will they fix the ROA cert. to your passport if you now have it back?
Thank you.

Hi ITF

That's a good question. I have heard that they provide documentation rather than a sticker in your passport. But I am not sure how accurate this information is. Will provide an update if any new info comes to light.

Cheers

Hi
I received my approval letter from the home office on Friday three and a half weeks from the time I re river my acknowledgement letter. This seems unusually fast. My employer was involved doing employer checks etc so don't know if this helped speed up the process.
Good luck to everyone still waiting.

Hi Helen, thank you so much for for the update. I wonder if your right of abode is different to the usual as I was not aware it was just a letter? Still the possibly faster processing times at least give some hope!

To Mukuroo00 and waikatodave - I would be really keen to know if either of you have received back your ROA too ?
Thank you.

Hi Mukoro00 - I sent my passport on 13/2/18 and got acknowledgement letter on 15/2/18. I was hoping you had yours back - it’s more worrying that you sent yours in November but still haven’t heard. Please post when you do get it back! Thank you.

Has anyone had any updates on applications made this year (2018)? Previous applications I've made got processed within a month. Currently at 9 weeks and counting..
