Pisses me off that if they hadn't f**ed up my initial payment there's a high chance I'd have been approved already. Although I'm seeing at least 2 others who had same payment date and who already received approvals last couple of days... Fingers crossed.

Update 07/10/2013 Asked for any updates, no decision made yet. I think at least a caseworker is assigned.

Update: 15/10/2013 Asked for updates, "I can confirm that a decision has been made on this application"... In shock now, can't guess if I should start dreaming:

Date of approval: 17th October 2013 (dated 7th of October)

Date of Ceremony: 24th October 2013
Can you please tell me the email address you used to contact home office. Thanks

Eligibility criteria: 5 years (Though I've been living here for 15+years)
Method of application: Self
Date of application: 23/10/13 (1st Class Recorded Delivery)
Date of receipt by UKBA: Should be 24/10/13 but will track to confirm
Date of acknowledgement:
Date of debit of fees:
Date of approval:

So now I begin my journey to receive my application back but since we are in October I won't start getting worried until the 23 of December, so roughly am giving it 2 months.

I think you posted in the wrong place, there is an October time line if you check properly. This is for September applicants.

Finally decided to call HO today using the number someone provided on here and asked for progress of naturalisation application, nice lady answered....well I was polite :-). She asked for reference number, when I applied and for some personal details. She then asked to put me on hold. Later came back and said that something has been dispatched to you yesterday. Do they generally say this when an approval has been made?

Just to check does it matter that they have incorrectly spelled my name on the letter of invitation ?

I think you can still go ahead and book ceremony and later request HO to correct your spelling. This will then appear on your passport.
