I think it's safe to say that using a solicitor probably slows down the application compared with using NCS.

Applied at Manchester NCS ( appointment) on 17/10
Basis : Residence
App Received in Liverpool : 19/10
Acknowledgement received : 22/10 ( Dated 19/10)
Final Approval and supporting documents received : 4/11 ( dated 1/11)
Ceremony Invitation Received :7/11
Private Ceremony and Passport Application ( fast track) : 8/11

Remarkably quick by any standards. Should go from app to passport in well under a month.

help....

Post by monika22 » Tue Nov 08, 2005 5:02 pm

I just started work as cabin crew for easyjet. On the 19.11 will have my first flight and I need my passport. Unfortunatelly I had no idea that it takes much time to process eec1 form, and I have sent my passport 7 days ago to Croydon Immigration Office. Now I have 10 days to get my passport back, otherwise I cannot fly, so cannot work....maybe even will lose my job. i am really desperated and don't know what to do. I have called them today but they said that I am not even on teir record yet! Do you think I should go to Croydon office and just beg them to give it back? Easyjet won't let me work without passoprt. please help me......

You need to indicate more clearly exactly what your situation is before anyone can possibly give you any information or advice. what nationality are you ? Why have you given your passport to the home office ? Are you allowed to work in the UK ? if so why did you submit your passport ?
if not - how did you get a job in the uk ?

All these things are missing from your post so it is difficult to ascertain exactly what the main issue is.

Hi

my timeline does not seem to be proceeding
My appointment was at NCS Brent on the 1st of November, since then i have been checking my bank account for the 268 pound debit, but no payment has come out my account.

Is there any reason why it is taking longer than it took for you guys. i thought the debit would have been straight forward and the rest of the process could be variable.

I intend no disrespect, rogerroger, but why ask that question here? Why not ask NCS Brent,or your bank, if you really think it is absolutely essential to chase things up six working days after your appointment?

i have going to leave the UK on friday(in 3 days). my concern was that if previously the payment had been taken out the next day, and the 5 days to remain the uk started from then
whereas in my case the home office were doing some check before they went ahead with the payment and the 5 day in the UK clock started from then, then i would be out of the UK then.

i have checked with my bank and it is a timeline question that is why i posted to the forum

Date of submission - 28th Oct at Newham,
CRITERIA - 5.0 years stay (including 1 ILR )
Date of debit of debit/credit card - 31th Oct
Date of receipt of acknowledgement - 2nd Noc
Date of receipt of approval: 9th Nov
Date of receipt of invitations:

How long does it normally take to get the invitations ?

And is there a wait in UKPA to get a appointment for fast-track application ?

Hi coolguy

I guess to check if your card was debitted you just checked with your bank, correct?

did you receive the acknowledgement and approval from the home office?

i guess people who applied after passing the citizenship test may have to wait longer because i have still not been debited my account. i applied through NCS Brent on the 1st of November

the application package was received at Liverpool (is that where all applications go?) on the 3rd of November. no information after that.

and i am flying out of the country tomorrow, i have been here for 5 working days after the application was received, so i am ok, correct?

< Mine arrived the day after the approval- looks like it ranges from about a day to a week afterwards>

And is there a wait in UKPA to get a appointment for fast-track application ?

< For the London office it seems to be possible to get appointments for the following day onwards>

Story so far

Post by coolguy_uk » Sat Nov 12, 2005 1:04 pm

I got my invitations today. (See my posts for timelines)

Wait for ceremony if two months in Oxford. I will check on Monday to see if they can arrange a private ceremony.

Do I need to submit current passport if I apply for fast track (first time) passport ?

UKPA says I need to but posts on this say other wise.

Can some clarify for me please.

Thanks in advance.

Here's my final timeline.

Applied at Manchester NCS ( appointment) on 17/10
Basis : Residence
App Received in Liverpool : 19/10
Acknowledgement received : 22/10 ( Dated 19/10)
Final Approval and supporting documents received : 4/11 ( dated 1/11)
Ceremony Invitation Received :7/11
Private Ceremony : 8/11
Passport Application ( fast track) : 10/11
Passport Printed : 10/11
Passport received : 11/11

Just about 24 elapsed days from Application at NCS to passport in hand.
I have to say it is an amazing level of service from all agencies concerned ( Home office, UKPA, NCS etc).

Lemess, wow! That is amazing speed, especially at a time when IND must have been receiving an above-average number of applications for naturalisation.

So NCS on 17/10 .. British passport received 11/11 = less than four weeks for the whole process. Although of course you did pay a bit of extra money twice to expedite matters ... the private ceremony and the fast-track passport application. Even so ... amazing speed!

Well done IND!

John,
I have to admit to being blown away by the service. I needed the fast track services due to the nature of my job and constant business travel but I didn't honestly expect to have a British passport till 2006 when I filed my application. Once I received the approval, I knew I could pay about 100 quid extra and get a UK passport within a few days and that was well worth it. In any case, I think the UK must now have one of the most impressive, streamlined and transparent naturalisation procedures anywhere and there is no real need for a normal applicant to ever involve solicitors. I recall that a few years ago the whole system was a complete shambles so credit is due to whoever has turned this around.

cool guy
The UKPA clearly require that you submit (or produce) your current foreign passport along with your naturalisation certificate. You should be prepared to do so regardless of what anyone has posted here.

if u apply in person they give u back the foreign passport immediately and retain only the naturalisation certificate which comes back by post later.

Not quite true - I applied in person and they specifically asked for and kept my old passport and sent it back with the naturalisation certificate.

I applied for my passport on 29/11. They returned the passport taking a xerox of the ILR page.
I submitted the appln. form for my wife and son on 12/11, again in person.
They gave me back the Indian passports by taking a photocopy of the ILR page.
This has been my experience in applying in person at a Reg. Passport Office. If you apply at a Post Office or any of the World Choice Partners', they would send the passport to the Passport office.

Maybe they apply different rules at different passport offices. Certainly in London they specifically wanted to keep my passport. I applied at the London regional passport office - not a post office.
