I called them today, they told me That descion had already been made on my application on 14th Sept, however they could not tell me what the descion was? She said i am going to have to wait until i receive the letter, Letter has not yet been despatched and she said it would be done in next couple of days.

So frustrating that they could not tell me what the decsion was?

Well it is been 10 days since the decision made, i still have not received any letter. from what i have seen is that it is not normal? Generally you receive it within a week.

Can anyone suggest what to do? anyone else has been in a similar situation?

Mate, I wouldn't worry just as yet. It seems that @sunny158 received the approval letter 11 days after the date of the letter. Also, you need to allow for the possibility that the decision might be made a couple of days before the letter is drafter, which means that the lag between the date of the decision and the receipt of the approval letter could be even longer than 11 days.

At any rate, you can give them another buzz to check up on the status.

Yes. I have letter saying that my application was approved but my wife and kid were not mentioned in it, but when I received invitations they were listed. So just wait for the next letter. I think they just write to the person who made the payment or who they consider is the main applicant.

Hi woj,

Thanks for this. I did receive the invitation by my town council to attend the ceremony, but my wife was not mentioned in the invitation letter at all. So I am not sure if my wife's application has been approved.

Ceremony invite normally comes in shortly after the approval letter. Having received that letter, you need to call the relevant local council to book the ceremony.

That said, you should be able to get the ceremony booked prior to receiving the invitation letter, as long as the relevant local council has been informed by UKBA of the (positive) outcome of your application. If you so wish, give a buzz to the local council's registrar office to see if you can already book the ceremony date.

Thanks again Generalisimus,

On a different subject, Can the same Refree act as Countersignatory on the passport application as they did for Naturalisation?

Passport application guide says they need to be British or Irish Citizen and must be a professional person? I assume same as Refree for Naturalisation?

Also is C1 the correct form for 1st adult passport application? I have seen PDF format of C1 form online, however when i got a form from Post office it was completely different?

Any input would be great.

Yes, the same countersignatory can be used.

Form C1 is just for use outside the UK. Use the form that you can pick up at the Post Office.

Thank you John,

Also In section 4 of the application form it's mentioned that if both parents were born abroad we are expected to provide the details of grandparents

I don't have them.My mother can't recall her date of marriage( marriage was in 60's) as well.Is my parents date of marriage /grandparents details important?

That's not right. As I said above, the initial letter from UKBA, saying that my application was sucessful was addressed to me only. The approval letters and invitations to attend the Ceremony were sent to both myself and my wife. I would call UKBA and asked why they sent letter only to you (hopefully they just made mistake).

I had it the other way round. Got 1 letter of approval addressed to the both of us Mr and Mrs.... and it says 'you have both been successful'. we then received separate invitation letters which came like a couple of days apart

Hi xumh,

Did you receive both approval letter and invitation letter on 30/09/2010?
I thought they should be post to you separately?

Hi Ak:

I did receive them on the same day, though many others received on the different days.

They are from different senders, The Home Office and your local council.

Hope this will help,

Guys just reading some posts how come some people receive ceremony invitation and approval letter on sameday. Some posts also indicate that the council sends the ceremony lettter. I only got approval saying dont call council yet sent with all my document sent in the prepaid envelope i included with my application.

Don't worry, I am in the same situation. Approval received on Tuesday, council letter still pending. I love to complicate my life that's why I will contact HO to re-arrange my ceremony to another council which seems to be more convenient for me. This will take another 10 working days extra :)
