TIMELINE AFTER NATURALISATION APPLICATION SUBMISSION

Hello All,

Your help and advice is much appreciated. (Apologies if it is not right forum)

My wife had a cencelled visit visa (5 Year) BEFORE she married to me and came to UK as my spouse on dependent visa. I wrote a supporting letter and informed british high comission and informed them about that when applying for dependent visa. They gave her that spouse visa and now she is on ILR.

I want to know if I should declare that old cancelled visit visa which had nothing to do with me? Even if I already declared at the embassy and even if she has an ILR now?

(She herself is always confused about that cancelled visa, it was only due to suspecion that she was comming alone on a 5 year visa and they were not satisfied that she will go back (This was not an intention (according to her), athough she had some job experience letters with her).

I am concerned if I inform HO about that, this may have impact, on the other hand if I donot inform & they come to know that may have greater impact....In both cases I am directly affected as me & my daughter are having british citizenship.

Date of Passport application - 8th Oct 2010 (C&S)
Date of Interview letter receipt -13th oct 2010
Date of receipt of supporting documents -13th oct 2010
Date of Passport interview - 14th oct 2010
Date of receipt of passport - 28th Oct 2010

It seems to me that if you send ur application through NCS you have 97% chance or getting ur approval and ceremony letters the same time compared to postal application. I made this assumption based on people's timeline

As I can see, you included a self-addressed special delivery envelope for the approval letter, but did not include one for the ceremony invite. That is probably why you got your approval letter two days after the decision had been made and are still awaiting for the ceremony invite, which will probably come in via 2nd class post. People submitting their applications via NCS tend to receive both letters by 2nd class post, which seems to be up to ten days after the decision has been made.

If you are writing in relation to a potential application for naturalisation by your wife, a breach of immigration laws, no matter how minor, is a problem if it pertains to the qualifying residential period (last 3 or 5 years prior to the date of the application, depending on the basis for applying). Otherwise, it does not seem to matter. However, I would still double-check this with a solicitor, just to be on the safe side.

Do u mean to say if one sends two pre paid envelopes UKBA will use the other for ceremony invitation rather than put everything in the same prepaid envelope intended for submitted documents

Agreed. That said, it is also strange that they are sending approvals by 2nd class post though recorded delivery cost is insignificant (less than 1%) in proportion to the application fee. Such is life.

I received my approval letter on 25th Sept, i still have not received my invitation letter from local council, I went to the local council office in person and booked one for 19th Oct, so yes you can do it.

Bolton Council told me i have to wait till i get the invitation letter, i told them i have been approved and can show them the letter and would want a private one, but lady on phone was haveing none of it

on the approval letter, it gives you a local county council contact number to arrange a ceremony appointment. On the back of the approval letter, it also gives some details of the arrangement and ceremony......It advises you to ring up the contact number asap...

rang home office and was told that invitation was sent to printing dept. on the 30th of sept and i should get it around at about the 14th of october. i rand Bolton council againg and this time somebody else answered and told me the approval is fine and took my number and will ring back in 10 min to book the private ceremony for £70.00 fingers crossed.

You dont have to book a private ceremony. A public one is already paid in our application fee. A public one could be very soon. After booking the appointment, they will send us an appointment confirmation letter, which I am waiting for now. Good luck.

I also contacted Bolton-on-Trent one. Then I got a local county coucil very close to where I live, different from Bolton.

You don't need an invitation to book a ceremony. For most council as long as they have alredy recived your Naturalization certificate. The will allow you to book. I did my private ceremony without invitation letter.
When i called my local council, they told me: ''We alredy received your certificate, there is no problem you can book'

Hi centennial,

Did you receive interview letter yet? How long they are taking to update their systems with new applications?

As we sent passport application for my wife via Check and Send on 28th Sep and still they did not even have a record on their system.

While a couple of weeks before the process was very quick.

Any thoughts...

Strange. On my approval letter they request not to approach council until the invitation letter is received. Maybe there's some alternative Home Office confusing people with some alternative letters?

I was wondering, Has anyone received a new version of British Passport yet in October?
