What are the documents- as mentioned here http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... tural1.pdf

1. Evidence of your identity - Passport?
2. Evidence of knowledge of English and of life in the UK or of exemption from knowledge of English and life in the UK -test certificate?
3.Evidence of lawful residence during qualifying period - last 5 year visa?
4. Evidence that you are free from immigration time restrictions - ILR on passport?

So only passport assuming you passed life in the UK test during settlement?
Many thanks,
S

Ceremony

Post by Muz » Sat Nov 27, 2010 2:14 pm

Hi All,

I took my citizenship oath yesterday afternoon and I am now a British Citizen. I was told the earliest public ceremony available was in January next year, having planned a holiday I decided to opt for a private ceremony instead.

I was surprised before the ceremony I was asked to produce a 2nd letter from the home Office. I was not aware there was a second letter needed, luckily for me, it arrived yesterday hours before the ceremony. The lady at the registrars office said, had i failed to produce the letter, she would have had to ask the Home office to fax it to her whilst I waited to take the oath.

The two letters I received from Home Office are as follows:
1) Letter notifying successs of application with original documents returned.
2) Letter of approval

Hence I have made some changes to the timeline as follows:

ILR Issued: 19th October 2010
NCS or Postal: Postal
Date of submission: 25th October 2010
Date of receipt of application at UKBA Liverpool: 26th October 2010
Date of receipt of acknowledgment letter: 3rd November 2010 dated 28/10/2010
Date UKBA made decision: 11 November 2010
Date of receipt of Approval: 26 November 2010
Date of receipt of invitation to ceremony: 25 November 2010
Date of ceremony - 26 November 2010 (Private Ceremony)
Date of Passport application - Awaiting
IPS letter for interview sent out on Awaiting
IPS letter for interview received Awaiting
Date of Interview: Awaiting
Receipt of passport: Awaiting

I hope to start filling out my passport application next week and then use the post office check and send service.

Very pleased, I believe now the hardest bit has been done, it has been some journey, good luck to the rest of you especially ICEBREAKER, mate I am sure it’s nerve racking to see others getting the approval when they sent the application weeks after you, be patient (there is another member on here if you read few pages ago ‘Joe London’ who was in the same situation and did get his approval after waiting longer than expected, so better late than never .)

How could you receive your approval letter a day after the decision was made by UKBA ? Could you have a re-check on that.

I checked again and the approval is dated 24th not 25th and mailed by second class post which I recieved on 26th. I can scan these if you dont believe (lol) !!

I think the only difference from what I can see is that I typed this so it was very well presented. I had extensive travels all for 2 or 3 days for which I used the additional information page.
I think if possible you should type the pdf so its easier for the case worker to read. Use either pdf xchange or foxit both are free.
I think even the newer adobe does it but I am not sure as I dont use it other than for filling hmrc returns which doesnt work on foxit or pdf xchange.

So you mean to say that you enclosed self-addressed special delivery envelope along with the application for the UKBA to send back the approval letter, passports and other original documents.

I have enclosed such envelope and as per UKBA website:
If you require your documents to be signed for on delivery you should enclose a pre-paid self-addressed royal mail special delivery (or recorded signed for delivery) envelope
I expect to get my original docs returned in it - they do not say about decision letter though. So my guess is, if it happens that the decision has already been made at the time of sending back originals, then they could pop the letter in, why not?

Guess i should share my story here as i've received tons of PMs regarding my success story telling me to post my timelines but i'm just really bad with dates so here we go.
Dec 2003 - Became EEA family member
Jan 2004 - Received 5 yr RC
Sometime in 2008 seperated from partner (as she started thinking she was a supreme being by me being a dependant, so i told her where to stick it ;-)
Jan 2009 - applied EEA4 under my own rights
Jan 2010 - EEA4 VOIDED (not refused) due to invalid passport i.e my old passport had expired before i submitted it for EEA4 (silly thing, but actually bought me time to get to the BC zone)
April 2010 - Reapplied EEA4
July 2010 - COA
Last week in Sept 2010 - Applied for Naturalisation based on 5yrs EEA + 1 Yr PR route (note:PR was attained automatically in Dec 2008)
Oct 2010 - Account got debited by £735 and received COA 2nd week in Oct.
Oct 2010 - Called HO to check status of EEA application bcos of mortgage application and the official said not to worry as a decision has been made on my BC application and the outcome should be fine for the banks but my EEA application had been assigned to a case worker (typical)
http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewto ... e+mortgage
Oct 21st 2010 - Got a call from solicitor that my BC was approved , called the council 2 mins later and booked private ceremony the next day (before they changed their minds :-D)
Oct 22nd 2010 - Became a British Citizen and swore allegiance to Charlie's Mum
Just to let everyone know that i attended the passport interview on 27th of Nov 2010 - Same questions asked as in forum
British passport arrived in post 30th of Nov dated 27th of Nov 2010.
I wish everyone waiting the best of luck and God's guidance and divine intervention in securing their passports. Been a long and tedious journey and makes you appreciate every moment of it.
