First of all congrats on receiving your approval/invitation letter...though you seems to be given yourself unnecessary stress as average approval time for most people in this forum including receipt of invitation letter from UKBA is 5-6 weeks...and yours seems to be a bit faster...and you are still moaning :(

Some guys have applied and have not even heard anything yet...you gotta appreciate what you have got now and just move on.

If you do check and send from the post office it will help and you could also secure all your document including receiving of your new UK passport...I wish you all the best :D

Hi Everyone

Please advise the telephone numbers of UKBA on which they are letting us know the status of the our application.

Appreciate if anyone who called can let me know the phone number and the options to select.

Best regards,

You may find it won't be that quick process.
Firstly you need to get invitation letter from UKBA to attend cereomony - do you have it?
Then you actually need to book ceremony and attend it.
You need to pick up passport application form from Post Office (do it now as you may find out you don't know the answers to all questions and it will take time to find them), fill it in, got signed by countersignee and post to IPS with enclosed passport, naturalisation certificate, 2 photos and payment slip.
Then IPS will send you documents back and (separately) letter telling you to book passport interview (another week down the pan).
Then you will call them to book interwiev, and as you are from London you may find out their London office (Elephant and Castle) is busy and you will have to wait a little for interview (first available slot was 9 days later in my case and actually only 2 slots were available that day - my OH phoned a few hours later and got slot 11 days later).
Then after the interview it will be a few days to actually get passport via courier.
So you better chill out as it's more marathon rather than sprint. :)

Post by daudali » Fri Jan 28, 2011 3:45 pm

Why approval letter is taking 10 days to reach when UKBA using second class stamps to send its letter. Post office website says 2nd class stamp should take 3 working days to arrive at destination.

Can someone please shed some light on it ?

After I submit my naturalisation application, does anyone know when can I expect to get my passport and documents back so I can use it for travel? Also, is it possible to get a certified copy of the passport and send that off or only the original passport is allowed? Thanks.

you can pick up passport application form from PO whenever you wish
you can't apply on-line prior to getting naturalisation certificate as you need to put in its number and date of ceremony

So basically once I apply for naturalisation, I don't get my documents back until it's all sorted and dusted? They don't send it back in advance of approval or denial I take it.

Hi bhavhit,
I just want to ask, when you called them regarding the status of your application, what did you ask them for? Did you simply ask them the status of your application?
I am asking this because I have got the same application and acknowledgement dates.
Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks

I am struggling to understand the delay in post (delivery of approval letter). I was told that letter has been posted on 18th January and now we are at 29th, and I have not still received anything.

Some one else asked samething earlier. anyone know better???

This delay is starting to p*** me off seriously.

Hi there,
For Check and send service thru post office, does the counter signatory needs to seal the envelope and you take the sealed envelope to the post office counter?
Secondly, how long is the passport valid for?
Many thanks

Dude Relax,
You are allowed to have one penalty in last 12 months. Moreover, your was in 2007, so you should be OK.

Spend extra days in the UK until you do not have total 90 days absent in the last 1 year and then apply for the BC naturalisation.

If absent due to business reason then provide letter from company. I had a same issue (around 110 days out), provided letter from my company and all done .
