Think they just take time to send out letters, they made a decision on my application on 28/01 but posted my letter on 3/02.

Still no approval letter from UKBA.

But called council this morning , they said they have my certificate. Asked to arrange a private ceremony and then been told that I can't have the ceremony without an approval letter from UKBA.

I insisted and requested to speak to manager. Long story short at the end she said , she will make an exception and will let me have a ceremony without a letter.

So At the end a very happy end and thanks everyone on this forum who has been really helpful.

A very special thanks to lanr3e for suggesting me to speak to council directly.

How can you find out if your application has been assigned to a caseworker or not?

daudali,
Can you please tell me which NCS did you apply from? In case, if I call them, and they insist on providing them with the reference number, then what should I say? Please help me.

Many thanks,

Are the 2 special delivery envelopes for 'acknowledgement' and 'confirmation' letters?

Yes. I took a chance, but I have read that they simply send them back to you 2nd class, unused. Maybe I'll get lucky and HO will use them, if not, I'll simply use them when I apply for the passport - approval pending off course!

If you do not mind could you please share with us the reason for refusal, it does not need to be very specific but just the subject would help all the appilcants. Thanks.

No, they do use enclosed prepaid envelopes for returning your docs (decision letter is in the same pack).
Ack letter is a single sheet (very cheap one - you can almost see through it) sent in standard DL envelope by 2nd class - there is no point in using secure delivery for it.

Thanks for the interesting/reassuring information. Since I applied through NCS I didn't send any valuable docs. I added the envelopes in the hope it would speed up the process a little. As I understand it HO sends all application related correspondence 2nd class, so you sometimes receive letters outdated by nearly a week. Will let you all know how it works out.
