flyez wrote:I also received acknowledgement letter from HO this morning (dated 21-Nov) as I submitted mine on 15-Nov via Wandsworth NCS.

But in 2nd paragraph, it said-
A fee payment was not enclosed. You will be asked to submit this in due course.

But I clearly remember that I did enclosed payment slip and NCS staff even had also circled "Visa" payment type and written down the total amount on it (I provide my visa debit card number on it).

Its bit weird. What should I do? just wait, or mail another payment slip to Liverpool?
May be better to first check with your credit card company if they got a payment through. The wording on the letter may simply be a home office mistake.

I just checked my visa debit card statement online and still no payment taken by HO.

I also reviewed the previous timeline of this thread, I found out that usually HO will take the payment and issue the acknowledgement letter at the same day. My acknowledgement letter is dated 21-Nov, but still no debit card payment taken record. So I guess my payment slip is likely to be missed on the way to Liverpool office from Wandsworth NCS.

So should I send out another payment slip immediately, or just wait until next letter from HO regarding further asking to submit payment slip?

By the way, lemess, as you referred above- your payment has been debitted today (24-Nov). Have you also got the acknowledgement letter yet?

I think you should wait for them to contact you as they say they will. If you send the payment now it will just confuse matters and get lost.

i did check through royal mail confirmation that the application was received in liverpool, but i received no acknowledgment within the week and then i left the UK. is that OK?

are we back to 4 months for processing of british natonality? my indian passport expires end december, does this mean to travel i will need to renew my Indian passport?

rogerroger,
I think that 5 day is not a rule - it is merely a buffer the ncs guys suggest you allow for any delays in reaching liverpool from NCS. The only rule here is that you are present in the UK on the day the application is received by Liverpool. It simply doesn't make sense to link it to the date they acknowledge it if there is a delay or they are swamped with work. Think about it - how can anyone possibly predict when they are going to deal with your application - it could be days or months. Requiring someone not to leave the country for an indeterminate and indeterminable time is never something that could work in practice.

So I would stop worrying about it. The important thing is that you have proof that the application was received and signed for by liverpool on a certain day and you were in the country then. Finally, it's not as if anyone actually checks whether you are making short trips after filing your application anyway so it really is a non issue.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Everyone,

I have been following this forum for a long time.
Looking at NCS service feedback, I also went through the same route but the experience I had was totally different.

I applied on 14/10/2005 at Northamption NCS on the basis of 4 years of WP + 1 yr ILR.
I didn't receive an acknowledgement from Home Office for 4 weeks. I contacted NCS, Homeoffice, Royal Mail and they all said it had reached home office on 17/10/2005.

I kept wondering why I haven't received any confirmation/acknowledgement from Home Office.

Today, I received a acknowledgement letter from Home office saying that they have recd all the documents and they would process it accordingly. But the acknowledgement letter is dated 10/11/2005 !!!!

So, will my application be considered as received before 1st Nov as it reached them on 17th Oct OR considered as received on 10th Nov when they acknowledged it.

I would like to know, if anyone had a similar problem ?

BTW, Northamption NCS had started operation a week before I applied !!!!

yes you can, thats exactly why i called them., to ask on the progress of an application. They do have recorded messages to put people off from calling them, but i suppose it really depends on how long you have been waiting for. I think it would be reasonable to say that dont call them for atleast 3 months (if applied by post) because, clearly they are very busy. I have no idea about applications through NCS or on how long to wait before contacting them as it is a compltely different channel. Does applying via NCS state that you will get a response much sooner, or you application gets a priority?

no applying through NCS does not mean you will get priority but since your documents have been screened hence i thought the process woud be fast tracked.

The IND website avoids explicitly claiming that NCS-assisted applications get priority, but says "NCS helps applicants submit complete applications - first time. It enables applicants to keep their important documents and reduce the number of requests for further information from the Home Office. Applications are usually dealt with more quickly than those submitted by more conventional means. NCS offers better customer service."

My wife got the approval of her application today.

Timeline :

Applied - 15/11 NCS Brent
Ack : 23/11
Return of life in uk pass cert : 29/11
Approval received : 12/12 ( dated 7/12)
Ceremony : 13/12

Again well under a month for the whole process - very impressive.

Has anyone been in a situation where their account was debited, but they didn't receive an acknowledgement letter?

Forms sent through NCS on 30nov05;
Delivered to the Liverpool office on the 01dec05.
Account was debited on the 5th or 6th dec.
But i haven't received the acknowledgement letter so far (14dec)!...

Any advice?...
