If you were aware that you will need your passport so soon, you should have applied through your local council check and send. HO made it abundantly clear that if you need your passport in the next three month, you should think carefully b4 you apply. I have a friend who applied last year and he needed to travel due to bereavement after applying for naturalization. HO advice him then to withdraw his application since his case had not been decided which he did. He had since got his approval. However, you applied through a solicitor, you should be able to seek advice from the him/her since you paid for the service ( I Assumed )

on a positive note, i beleve your approval will come though end of july/early august
Well said Jonway, I totally agree with you!
Mego,
Is your solicitor is registered with OISC ? if yes than he don't need to send your original Passport to HO, in my case we have in-house company solicitor for immigration and Work Permit and he is OISC registered. He had not sent my passport with the application in last oct-2010 and my application approved with-in 4 week time.
I am getting confused some people said I can't request my passport others said I can.
Thanks Haseeb for your replay. My solicitor is registered with OISC but she advised me to send my passport with the application to speed up the application process, therefore, she sent my application on 20/06 and I am not sure if I will get the approval on time before 11 Aug. as I planned to go for holiday and booked my ticket as well. I am not sure if I could request my passport while processing the BC application.
Mego, I really dont understand why are you worrying that much, you have hired solicitor and i believe you will get professional advice from him

You should follow a simple bit of advice, which i will reiterate again, call HO and make a request.

I don;t know why are you getting confused ? Its very simple , call Home office and ask your documents. Maximum they may ask you to withdrawn you application and forfeit the fee.Do that.At least you can go on your planned holiday and enjoy. Once you are back you can apply again.

hope now you are not confused .

good luck.

Agreed with Nazia.

To the poster concerned, you are allowed to request your passports back. The easiest way to do that, as the others have said, is to call them.
For naturalisation applications, requesting your passport back does NOT cause withdrawal of the application.

See section 5 in the UKBA instructions to caseworkers here: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... iew=Binary

I think this is the worst advice I am yet to hear

The application process is stressful enough without having to withdraw the application, forfeit the fee and having to start again at a later date.

In case you did not read properly, this is related to the very topic

mego_1980: I believe once your application has been scanned into the system, you can usually have your passport back.
Lets hope this happens soon, Good luck :)

I strongly agree with below, as each time i have to scroll through so many irrelevant posts in order to find out any latest update on timelines and approval.
I understand every one here needs an answer to their queries, however i felt that there is a general discussion board to raise any issues like that.
Apologies if any one get offended.
Thanks

the topic reads, timeline after application submission and not how to get the passport back...
No one is depreciating mego's concerns, but others going on arguing abt it. Do that in relavant or new topic.

I totally agree Mrs Khan, and i think there should be separate posts
- Purely for recording timelines
- Discussions/arguments/advises on timelines
But I think though moderators create these separate sticky posts, its users (including me ofcourse) have be using corrects posts for different things, apologies not meant to offend anyone but it will be easy for everyone
