Hello Everybody,

I really need help and advise please.

My application for British Citizenship has been rejected by the Home Office for the Good Character, The HO stated that :

1. I came to the Uk illegally ( but its not True as i came with a student visa )
2. That i delayed to apply for Asylum ( i applied 8 months after arriving to UK as i did not not about this possibility and i was not well, when i applied for asylum my student visa was still valid and not expired)

When my application for asylum was granted 7 years ago, the judge cleared out those two points and the home office never said anything about.

My question is :
Did anyone in similar situation had a successful reconsideration.
If i apply for reconsideration, is it better to use a solicitor or i just do it myself.

Please advise me as i am lost right now.
Bro I have a similar situation, but mine actually I was overstayed for about 50 days, but I was sick, and took medicine, I submit the doctor's letter as well, did HO ask you to clarify about your case or they just refused it, because they sent me a form to fill up, i'm still waiting for my result. dob't know what gonna happen, i'll let you know. i explained them why did i overstayed let see what happen.
Hi Rosh2018,
Have you received any decision on your application? I am following your post and I am also in the same situation.
Thanks

Hi all, my application for citizenship through naturalisation was rejected. The rejection was on the basis of not having had permanent residence in the UK for 12 months prior to applying for citizenship. Furthermore the rejection letter refers to this requirement fo EEA and Swiss nationals who are not applying on the grounds marriage/civil partnership to a British citizen.

In my case however, I am applying on the grounds of being married to a British citizen from birth. This is also stated in my application.

I am an eu citizen who has received settled status.

If I send the form for reconsideration, is there anything else I need to provide? When can I expect to get an answer?

Thanks for your help.

Yes, I’ve filed the online application and the scanned were deemed as sufficient by ukvcas. All requirements were uploaded correctly.

After my daughter having her application refused, we were able to prove that the error was on the HO side (they missed some additional paperwork we sent in - thankfully we had proof it was signed for) and today we were notified that her application refusal will be reviewed. So, here we go again! :D

So i applied for my BC last year in Feb 218 and it was refused on grounds of 'Good Character',
*because i had applied before the 10years (granted DLR in 2009, ILR in Oct 2016)
*And because in my initial asylum application i had stated that i supported myself financially by doing hair, cooking and cleaning, which they classed as working.

Now my question is, now that i have completed the required 10years, can i still ask for a reconsideration of my 2018 application based on recommendations on some of the posts i have read .
Do i have to make a fresh claim?
Another thing i have a Council tax CCJ i am currently paying off, will this go against my application? i cannot afford to loose another £1300

Hello everyone,

I was refused on my first try of naturalisation back in 2011 and I'd like to apply again.

Do I have to put the naturalisation application although it was refused on my new application? It's going to be in the part of "Have you made any previous UK immigration applications in the UK or abroad?" Yes or No?

Other than that I have never made any. I do have ILR though.

Thank you

Hello
Does anyone apply for naturalisation reconsideration recently? I send my form on 12 August 2020 and I’m still waiting. They didn’t take money from my account and no confirmation of receiving. Can someone please share their reconsideration timeframe.
Thanks

I’m sorry Usman, but you’re in for a long long wait. I applied for reconsideration in April 2019 and only got the approval email 2 weeks ago. It took the Home Office around 17 months! I got an acknowledgement of receipt letter in June 2019 And I think they took the money within 3 weeks. Hopefully yours will be quicker as my application was affected by Covid19 lockdown. And after all this time I’m still waiting to find out when I might be able to do my ceremony as my council are still doing their risk assessment.

Thanks Nikmishin for the info dear.
I received the decision on 28 July 2020. The reason was because of lawyers fault I was over stayer in 2017, which was successfully challenged. They refused on this reason.

It was based on 10 years long residency. I got ILR in November 2018. After one year of ILR, applied for naturalisation.

I asked about 2017, lawyer fault and the overstay. Not you ilr route!

The lawyer didn’t tell me about the correspondence and also keep the refusal letter for a month. After a month I received the money back from home office then I came to know the decision. I send email to lawyer firm about this negligence, didn’t receive any reply. Then take this complaint to SLCC, which is in Scotland, the lawyer was sacked and the firm accepted their fault. I send them proof of calls which I made enquiring about my application.
So it was firms fault and I was kept in dark.

What application was it for and why was it refused?

What date was it refused and what date did your previous visa expire?

What process did you follow after the refusal?

Apologies for posting on here.
I had made a previous post that my naturalisation application was refused November 2019 (https://www.immigrationboards.com/briti ... 92432.html). I want to provide an update. I decided to do a reconsideration and sent it in March 2020. I received an email that it was taking longer due to COVID in June. I found out yesterday that it was successful but I can't do a ceremony as they are currently suspended due to COVID. The whole point here is that, it did not take as long as I expected.

Good luck with everyones application.

Hi everyone
Would anyone know how long i have to apply for reconsideration after an unsuccessful naturalisation form?!

My mother was refused as the home office did not accept her disability for not taking the English test, if we ask for reconsideration and provide document that now she has passed, would they accept
It is very expensive to spend another £1345.

Her rejection came through around January 2020, you think there be a chance to ask for reconsideration now?

Hi
There is no time limit to send an NR ( Naturalisation Reconsideration) form to the HO. So go and find a good Solicitor and a good Barrister, gather all information and documents and take your time then send your NR form to the HO as soon as you gather everything without rush please.

Hello everyone, I've been following the forum for a few months, and a few days ago I registered. I want to know the opinion of some of you. I applied for my British nationality on June 22, 2020. On October 1st I received a question form from the home office, the questions were about my overstayed. Answer the questions as honestly as possible, but on October 17 I received the rejection letter .... Would it be good to apply for a reconsideration? Thank you
