British Nationality for EEA national in the UK for 40+ years

Hi,

My friend has been living in the UK since she was a baby, she holds a French passport but was brought up in the UK, She's got 2 children born in the UK to a British father (she's now divorced) and now she would like to acquire British nationality for herself and her daughter (18 yo) and son (14yo). Her questions are:

1. Her children are British by law as they have a British father and were born in the UK, although they have always held a French passport. Can they just apply for a UK passport? or do they need to follow another process?

2. She was married for 10+ years to a UK national and divorced about 4-5 years ago. She would like to get British nationality, what are her options? Does she need to get PR for a year and then apply for naturalisation? or what is her easiest option.

She is settled here, is self sufficient, owns a business and property.

1. Apply for British passports.
2. Apply for confirmation of PR first.

Suggest check old passports to see if friend was stamped into UK with ILR stamped or annotated in such passport.
She may have settled status already.
This would give a headstart in terms of applying for citizenship.
