British Otherwise by descent

Hi

I was born in Hong Kong in 1969 to a HK father and a british woman (born in UK). I have a British passport and started living in England from the late 1970's (had right of abode) and have been there most of the time since then, until recently.

I know I am definitely British by descent but I saw there were changes to the law regarding those born in colonies. Am I british otherwise than by descent?
