BRP cancelled due to approved visa extension and travel is imminent

Hi All

A bit of a sticky situation. My wife has had her family visa extended today but as a result her BRP has been cancelled automatically even though it has time remaining on the card.
We fly to Australia prior to the 7 working day time period for delivery of the BRP (we fly next Tuesday).

Do we have any options to fly or do we need to rearrange at quite an expense.

I understand there is an option to apply for a temporary one time visa to gain entry to the UK from the Australian visa office. We are over there for 5 weeks so hopefully that would be enough time to gain the visa.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

You could ask someone to wait for delivery and send the new BRP to Australia.

Hey thanks for the response they mention they need to see ID for the courier to release the BRP so assume that wouldnt work.

My experience is they never bother to check. If you are still worried, leave her driving license or other ID with your friend and i am pretty sure they will give it to your friend.

Try this first. If it does not work, report it lost and apply for the BRP replacement visa at Australia. But I don't know if you can do this if you haven't received the BRP in the first place.

This could be standard procedure however recent BRP receivers stated it being dropped off at their residence without pressing bell or knocking for someone to come to.the door, show ID and sign collection

Yeah thanks all that might be an option. Just worried that they will adjudge my wife leaving the country as a withdrawal of the application (even though we have the email approved).

Another option would be to travel and then apply for the one time only brp visa entry back to UK from Australia but again as there is a visa decision already in place that would seem again risky as its confirmed travel outside of common area and a withdrawal of application.

Tricky - not sure what we will decide to do.

Thanks all we have decided not to risk it and will delay our travel a couple of weeks. Had semi flexible tickets and work were flexible with the change of dates so we decided on the cautious approach.
