BRP phase out timeline

Post by James4949 » Thu Jan 04, 2024 4:33 pm

Hi, I’ve read the sticky post at the top of the forum but have a question not addressed there.

I know from acquaintances that some visa types (eg Graduate Visa) have already stopped issuing BRPs and moved to fully digital. However for others (eg Work) they are still issuing BRPs.

My question is, has this already happened for ILR? Is the expectation that for ILR they will continue to issue BRPs until December 2024? Has anyone recently got ILR and been issued a BRP.

Also, I read on Reddit that they have started sending out BRPs valid til 2026 rather than 2024. Can anyone confirm and does this indicate the schedule has been pushed back?

We are at the early stages of the changes and changes will be introduced gradually. We cannot tell you when, or how some changes happen. Some visas are only digital at this point, for example, people under EU settlement scheme. There is no evidence that this has been done for most of the routes, including the ILR at this moment but it may happen in the coming months. Everyone may eventually be moved to this system this year and all the cards will be declared invalid. I suggest waiting until they clarify the steps ahead :!:

The year 2026 may be in line with some EU regulations: https://eur-lex.europa.eu/EN/legal-cont ... ments.html
