Calculation of Period of Residence

Post by coketero » Wed Sep 03, 2014 11:03 am

Hi All,

I moved to Ireland in September 2009 to live with my wife( EU Citizen) about a month a half later I went to apply for EUFAM 4 and was given a temporary stamp for 6 months, 6 months later I got another stamp for a few years. I want to apply for naturalization now that I will be in Ireland 5 years but I don't have clear from which moment does my residence starts and will be considered a valid residence period. Will it be from the moment my passport was stamped at the airport in September? The day I went to apply for EUFAM4 and got a temporary stamp in November or the day it was approved in May (6 months later) ?

I want to apply as soon as possible as my current stamp 4 expires in March next year.

Thanks in advance!

stamps are not the green ones you get in airport.. they are the BIG black ones (contains: stay in country until..) given by GNIB offices.. go take the stamp day and the valid until, put them on a paper starting from first stamp, then go here: http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/Na ... Calculator to see if/when you qualify.

As far as I am concerned your residency count should start from the date of your temporary stamp 4. If you use the Naturalisation Residency Calculator you will see that you will qualify to apply for the naturalization:

Hope that helps...
