Calendar Difference

Post by houman1979 » Thu Nov 05, 2009 4:51 am

Dear All,

I am going to apply for Tier 1 General next monday from Iran. In Iran there is a different official calendar called Shamsi. As Georgian calendar every 4 years, one day added to the year and it becomes 366 days. Last year was like that but Georgian calendar was normal. Then, when I am going to translate my employer letter for previous earning from Farsi to English, the period in Georgian becomes 366 days (12 months+1 day). In the other words, in Shamsi the period is between 01/08/1387 to 30/07/1388 and in Georgian it is between 23/10/2008 to 23/10/2009.
Then, do you think it is OK? I mean, Visa Officers know about these differences or I should explain this matter for them?

Thanks

So the document is going to be translated from Farsi into English. That translation should automatically include any needed date conversion.

My wife does translations from Thai to English. In Thailand the year number is 543 years ahead of what it is in say the UK. So if for example she was translating a Thai birth certificate, and that says that the person was born in say 2519, she would translate that certificate and show the year of the birth as 1976.

Yes ECOs etc do know about these differences.
