I recently found out my status as an overstayer in the uk, I was brought here as a minor clueless about visas and all of that. Anyway, I intend to do my masters in the US next year and Im currently applying to grad schools from the UK. I intend to leave the uk with a travel permit from the nigerian embassy once I get a letter of acceptance and get the F-1 visa from the american embassy in lagos.
Do you think they will find out about my overstay in the UK? I will be applying for a new passport when I get to nigeria as my old one is lost. The new one will be completely blank I assume so they wont know about my overstay unless I say something or they contact the uk embassy

Another option for me is to get a new passport (from the nigerian embassy here) while in the UK and if accepted into university go the us embassy to apply for the F1. Do you think this is a good idea because I might be asked about my status in the uk. I might have to lie if asked about my staus in the UK Im not feeling that at all, apart from the fact that I value honesty, my new visa would not have any stamps, no visas or nothing. Im trying to legalise my status here by studying in america and returning to the UK to work with an international firm.
Finally, If I do apply in nigeria, the only ties have to nigeria is my parents. will that impinge on the embassy's decision? I have no intention of living in the US, it would be nice, but Id happily return to the uk when my visa is over. Please I need your advice. I fear i might be over thinking things.
I will be GUTTED if im accepted for my masters and my visa is denied....
