Can i ask for a post dated EC??

Post by ashishashah » Fri Jul 14, 2006 6:35 am

Dear All,

i have got my HSMP letter..I am confused abt. when shd. i go for EC??

I might not be able to travel immediately, so worried that if i get EC soon then my counter starts ticking..

So my question is:: can i ask for a EC which wil have start date as 1-2 months from todays date, so that my counter doesnt start till next 1-2 months?? ( i wont be able to travel for next 1-2 months)

Please ,any help will be appreciated..

Thanks
Ashish

Ashish, you have not mentioned the date on your HSMP letter but let me tell you my case....I got my HSMP approval on 16th September'05 and the letter had a date of 1st September '05 so ideally i wud have taken an EC anytime arnd 1st Dec'05....i wanted to travel arnd Dec'06 so i filed my Visa application arnd 18th november and got the visa stamped on 21st Novmeber and came to UK in the first week of Dec'05...your 1 year period start from the date u get the visa so it is better to obtain the visa near to the time u can travel and of course obrain the visa within 3 months from the date mentioned on your letter....
Hope this helps...

I am not too sure of that if it has changed recently....I am only aware of the 4 years extension instead of 3 years....
I have got it for an year only....
