I've been reading heaps of these posts, and this forum is amazingly helpful - I wish I'd found it months ago when we started our whole process... let me explain!
I'm sure there must be someone who is/has been in the same situation as me. I'm currently here on a Working Holiday Visa and my fiance is on a 3 year Work Permit. I'm Australian and he's South African. We're just about to get married here in the UK, and then I was going to head back to Australia to apply for a Work Permit Dependant visa.
My question is that we were originally told that I'd have to head back to apply for the dependant's visa from back in Australia. But now I have been talking to people who say it is actually possible to switch the visas while staying in the UK.
Obviously, any spare cash we have at the moment, we would love to be able to spend on the wedding, rather than an unneccesary aeroplane fare. Is there any one who can confirm for me either way whether I can swap the visas while staying in the UK?
