Post by koshynita » Mon Mar 10, 2008 12:28 pm

Dear all
i am a naturalised British citizen & my wife is currently on a spouse visa with eligibility of ILR this september.
My children aged 7 & 11 were born in India
are they eligible to apply for UK citizenship.

See also Other cases where it is considered to be in the child's best interests to be granted British citizenship and Chapter 9: Registration of minors at discretion.

Are they with you and your wife in the UK, as your dependants? They would probably have to wait until being granted ILR. If aged 13 or over, then they should also have been in the UK for at least two years before registering.

soory vinny for delay in replying
yes they are here as my dependants...ie...they are also on a 2 year visa when i got ilr which runs out in sept of 2008 when they are eligible for ILR.

The problem now is to find out whats also the cheapest way to get citizenship for children.

I thought i would get ILR for my wife in september & then apply for citizenship for the children without applying for ILR for them( the children)

Is that possible?

I will probably save some money.

could seniors advise !!

thanking in advance

Children should have ILR before applying for citizenship. They may be included for free in mother's SET(M) application.

1) in our case will all ...ie...wife & children be eligible for citizenship immediately after ILR ?
2)do each have to pay seperately for citizenship each?
