Can a Dependent on Student Visa apply for General tier 1

hello,
I am thinking to apply for student visa so my wife would get dependent visa on my behalf and would be able to work full time. My Question is Will she be allowed to (register) self employed and later apply for tier 1 (General) visa living within UK as dependent on my student Visa.
