Can an employer offer a permanent job to an HSMP holder?

Post by kevin_sa » Wed Nov 21, 2007 5:07 pm

Hi all,

I am on an HSMP visa, and a prospective employer has questions regarding whether they can employ me on a permanent contract, given that the initial visa has an expiry date (at which point I will be applying for extension).

Has anyone encountered this before? Can HSMP holders employed on a permanent basis? Or would there be legal reasons why HSMP holders can only be offered fixed term contracts?

Would be very interested to hear your experiences.

Thanks!

He can offer it to you. Just make sure you are making enough money that you can renew based on the standards set out by the HO.
