Can employers hire PWS visa holders without sponsoring?

Hi,

Can employers hire PWS visa holders without sponsoring? I understand that most of us are assuming that by default the PSW are allowed to work even though the Home office webiste only says that PWS are allowed to look for work.

What we need to look at is what is Home office telling the Employers. I had a look at the following Home office webiste pages wherein they give guidance to the EMPLOYERS about hiring migrant workers. Nowhere does it say that employers can hire PWS visa holders without sponsoring. (Note that the website does say that employers can freely hire HSMP visa holders.)

Yes employers can employee PSW holders for up to 2 years without sponsoring but after 2 years either get a sponsorship, apply HSMP or leave the country (UK)

Is this mentioned anywhere in the Home office website? Is this what home office telling to the employers?

Hi,

An employer is ready to offer me job but does not want to sponsor. I told them that employerd can hire PWS holder for full time permanent vacancy without sponsorship but he asked me to show him proof of this. They said they rang the home office and home office said that they need to sponsor the candidate. They also said that they have read the following documents which mention that employers can hire students (part time 20 hours), hsmp visa (full time) but nowhere PWS visas has been mentioned.

I carefully read the documents suggesed by you but could not find any statment confirming that "employers can hire PWS for full time positions without sponsorship".

Can someone please send the link and quote the text from the home office website which confirms that "employers can hire PWS for full time positions without sponsorship". I can then show it to the employer.

Mate if you are still unclear i would STRONGLY recommend you to contact a SPECIALIST immigration solicitor who deals with student cases. but believe it or not you are free to work and any type of work on PSW.

Why dont you call up HO and clarify yourself, your employer is simply making life difficult for you, you can bump into 1 or 2 idiots (borderline dearly beloved) like this quite frankly very rarely but it can happen, he is not being honest, IF WE ARE NOT TO WORK ON PSW THEN WHY WOULD ONE BE HERE, start looking for some other place, why don't you contact recruitment agents and get a job via them, even with recession, professional jobs are not very hard to find.
