Neither of these are possible or reasonable.
It does not work that way. You need to be on the same visa that you used to finish your course.
Appendix Graduate doesn't exactly put it like that, but the sponsor might view it that way. Hence I think OP needs their input.
In fact, I don't even think OP can apply for the new Student visa due to academic progress requirement ST 14.1.
That para prevents them from applying for "permission to stay" (i.e. an extension within the UK), but they can still apply in their home country. But given OP's very unrealistic plan, and their own admission that they are not a genuine student but they just want to spin out their time in the UK, I expect a Student application made in their home country would fail on credibility anyway.
