Can a UK Permanent Resident work in other EEC countries?

Guys,

Does a permanent resident "Non-Citizen" of the UK have authorization
to work in another EEC country like Belgium?

I would be applying for my ILE visa soon and would like to have the flexibility to contract in places like Germany, Belgium and Switzerland.

In a word No.

ILR does not give you any rights in the rest of the EU. You still need visas and work permits in Europe.

Marcus, Lemess is quite right. And in a sense your flexibility is worse than that.

You really need to ensure that you live and work in the UK until you have your British Citizenship. After all there are limits upon the amount of time you can spend outside the UK during the three-year qualifying period (you have previously posted that you are married to a British Citizen).

Once you have your British Passport then you have the right to live and work in any EEA country, plus Switzerland.

But probably best to put on hold any plans to work elsewhere in Europe.

Your previous posts show you are married to a British Citizen, so it is a three-year qualifying period, rather than the normal five years.

In the 3-year period you should not spend more than 270 days outside the UK. Also, in the last year of that 3-year period you should not spend more than 90 days outside the UK.

There is a bit of leeway on those 270 and 90 day numbers, but not a lot. Certainly you should not plan to spend more than those numbers of days outside the UK.
