can UK settlement visa be revalidated?

Post by shanix500 » Wed Nov 28, 2018 12:45 am

Hello friends, am 38 and thinking of joining my mum and British born siblings in UK. I dont know the best application to make. Ancestry visa thriugh my grandma is expensive. I once had a settlement visa and upon arrival, my passport was stamped with leave to enter the uk for an indefinite period. But i didnt know what this meant. I came back to complete my degree in Nigeria. More than 10years now. Can i still have a chance based on my profile with the embassy? What are my chances? Please any advice will be appreciated.

Is your mother a British citizen? If so, was she a British citizen by descent at the time of your birth? If so, through which parent? If not, when and how did she acquire British citizenship?

Absence of more than two years from the UK causes ILR (settlement) to lapse automatically, unless you can show strong links to the UK. Given that you have spent ten years away, that considerably weakens the "strong links to the UK" argument, even more so if you have married abroad and settled down with family there.

You mentioned about getting an Ancestry visa through your grandmother. Which grandmother? And did she have British citizenship before 1983?
