The HO webpage only seems to say you have to have been 'resident' for 5 years to qualify for naturalisation without specifying what exactly 'resident' means in this context.
So, could anyone give me some pointers as to what types of residency can be part of these 5 years? Is time as a college student (i.e. 'not ordinarily resident' for tax purposes) sufficient or does it have to be 5 years of having been 'ordinarily resident' for tax purposes?
More specifically in my case, I spent 4 years (as an EEA national) studying in the UK, have been working for about 4 years after that and was wondering, if I'm eligible to apply for naturalisation already or only after 5+ years of working/paying tax/etc?
