Can I travel while waiting for an EEA2?

Post by Gabriella2305 » Thu Aug 13, 2009 4:05 pm

Hi,
I have a question. I am applying for an EEA2 family permit in November this year. I am a South African currently living in London and am on a student visa which expires in Dec 2009. My fiance is Irish and we are getting married in November :-)
I am sending off certified copies of our passports so my boyfriend can travel if need be as I know the waiting times to get the EEA2 permit back is like 9months!! I was wondering, what if for some reason like a death back in South Africa/an emergency I need to travel next year?
My student visa would have expired and I would be waiting for my EEA2 to come back.
Would I be able to get back into the UK if my partner travelled with me because my visa would have expired so I would just have my South African passport and marriage certificate? Would this be sufficient to get back into the UK if we travel or can I not travel at all whilst waiting for an EEA2? How would I do this or does anyone know what number I can call to ask this question.

Your help would be most appreciated.
x

Thank you.
