"Mainly a visit visa.." - what does that mean? Is a visit intended or something else?

The Rules don't say who or how many can sponsor a visa, but the situation you describe may look like a put-up job. Were I the ECO I would be thinking "Hmm, one's got a spare bed but no money, so what's in it for the other one? If they live x miles apart is there likely to be any genuine contact with the alleged financier? How's this going to work? "
Absolutely central to the decision is how well the applicant knows both of the sponsors, (and how well the sponsors know each other), has he met both of them, have they both visited the applicant etc etc. Unless such basic points can be satisfactorily answered, it might be difficult to succeed.

But always bear in mind that whatever the bona fides of the sponsor(s), it is the applicant's intentions which are the most important.
