Can wife visit UK while her application is being processed?

Can wife visit UK while her application is being processed?

Is my American wife allowed to come here on visitor status to see me for a few weeks after her spouse visa application has been submitted and it is being processed? Thanks for your responses.

She would need to submit her passport for visa processing. She cannot travel without a passport.

I see. I didn't think about that. Would she be given her passport back at some point during the process, or would they keep her passport for the whole process of her visa application?

She may request the return of documents, but then they may cancel her application without a refund.
