can i work after the final results?

Post by longwalkhome2010 » Tue Oct 05, 2010 3:43 pm

hi im doing my MBA at the moment which i am hoping to complete by next june. my results will be out by august (2011). My student visa ends in December 2011. so there is a gap between the date of completion of the course and the date of visa expiry (Aug 2011 to Dec 2011). During that period am i allowed to work in the UK?
thanks

Untill you are on student Visa, irrespective of you finishing your course, you still cant work full time. You can only work part time in that duration.

The work you do must not fill a full-time permanent vacancy (other than on a recognised Foundation Programme), and you must not be self-employed, employed as a doctor in training (except on a recognised Foundation Programme) or as a professional sportsperson (including coach) or entertainer.
I am not, and cannot, offer legal advice to particular people. I can only discuss general areas of immigration law.

People should always consider obtaining professional advice about their own particular circumstances.

In addition to the above:
If you have completed your course and you make an application to remain in the UK under the points-based system before your existing permission to stay expires, you can work full-time (within the above limits) until your application is decided.
In other words, if you wish to work after completion of your course (studies) then you must make an application for leave to remain before attempting to do so (working full-time).

Clearly mentioned in the link that was provided in my response above.
