Can I work and claim benefits

Hello i was wondering if any one could help me i have been in the uk for 16 years i have Indefinite Leave to remain , I have never worked & dont have a work permit , but have n.i card I was wondering if i am able to work here & will i need a work permit.

and was wondering as i am unemployed and 19 will i able to claim any benifits?

because i have no propper financial income and does any one no if i can get any funding for a college course.

you said you have ILR. If you have and you have relevant docs as a proof then you can claim benefits.
