Does DUI accounts for deportation?

My friend is caught for DUI. He is a British national working here in Canada for 2 years now. I heard that if convicted for criminal offence, the person will be deported back or declared inadmissible. Since DUI is a criminal charge, will he face the same fate?

His next appointment with the lawyer is tomorrow. Here in this blog in torontodefencelawyers, Immigration repercussions of Criminal Conviction, it says that one can be deported, if the conviction is serious. He was very drunk after the party when the police intercepted. I'm worried. His next appointment with the lawyers is tomorrow.
