Express Entry (Province selection)

I am applying for canadian immigration under Express Entry - Federal skilled workers. However upon using the online eligibility tool it is asking me for the province or territory i plan to live in.
My question is that provided it is a federal skilled worker scheme why am i being asked for my provincial preferance? Also once i make a selection will i be bound to find work and stay in that province only? As I want to keep my options open at this stage.
