Canada Jamaica multiple issue

Post by ca.funke » Sun Sep 04, 2011 5:19 pm

Scenario:

Indian and Swiss national want to travel
Switzerland-Canada-Jamaica-Canada-Switzerland
They entered Canada on a single visa.

Now (already in Canada) they realised that they need a multiple visa to be able to do the Jamaica-side-trip.

Thus the question: Is there a possibility to get a re-entry visa inside Canada?

Any other option to still materialise the Jamaica-thing, or will it not work out?

Timeframe: They´d need the re-entry visa within a week!

Thanks for any possible insight :!:

Is their visa a single entry or multiple entry visa for Canada?

How long will they be in Canada on the return leg? Are they, for instance, just changing planes at Toronto airport, or will they be spending a few more weeks in Canada?

They are planning to stay a few days, more than just transit...

I doubt they could get a new visa in Canada in the short time. If I were them, I might head to the airport (assuming they are in Toronto) and talk with the immigration officers who would be dealing with her on her return from Jamaica.

Does the Indian have a US green card by any chance?

A transit visa MAY be possible to get in Jamaica, but only if it is a under 48 hour connection. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/informatio ... -faq02.asp

The Canadian Embassy seems to be next to the airport in Kingston (Jamaica). They´ll try their luck there, and otherwise re-route the return ticket from Jamaica to Switzerland, without passing through Canada again...
