Cant get a passport advice please

Post by kat1 » Sun Mar 28, 2010 10:36 pm

My dad came over to britain in the early 1960s with his parents .When he did he had a blue british passport and a big blue birth certificate. He has lived here worked , payed taxes, claimed benefits, gained a driving license, had children, has a council property etc..But his parents passed away and his id was disposed of when his parents died because it was in their home.my dad has lost his job and cant get a new one without id.The job centre has got him some forms to apply for a Grenadian passport but are telling him that he needs a copy of his grenadian birth certificate and he should fill in the passport form form for this.If this is true then where and how does he get one.I dont think they are giving him the right information. If he was given a blue passport when he was 13 then shouldnt he be able to apply for a new british passport the normal way.Any advice would be great :?

Perhaps he should try to get Confirmation of British nationality status.
